My 16 year old is constantly being told that she needs to look younger for auditions..does anyone have any tips regarding hair, clothes, etc? I already know no makeup, that's a given..right? What else? Thanks so much!

It's kind of hard to tell without seeing what she looks like normally, but I think girls with long hair tend to look a little younger, esp when it's worn in a ponytail. Small earrings, maybe go with a more sporty look than a "fashionable" look. Clear or lt pink nail polish, nothing too dark or bright. 16 is a tough age to try to look younger, esp if she's pretty developed. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately, a lot of "looking younger" has to do with height and how developed she is and those aren't things you can change.
We have the opposite, yet similar, problem with my daughter -- sort of. She's almost 14 but very short (56") which has often worked in her favor in that she can be cast much younger. BUT, even though she hasn't grown up much she is starting to "develop" meaning she doesn't quite look like a kid, but isn't really tall enough to look fully "teenage".
Ahhhh, the joys of teen years!
good luck, actnow63.

We have "special" bras and clothes that my daughter wears for younger roles - outfits that she wouldn't be caught dead in under other circumstances. Baggy shirts, hair pulled in a "half up half down" maybe with a clip, not so tight jeans, and the flattest shoes to keep her height down. (You'd be surprised how many inches sneakers add!) It almost borders on nerdy to a 16 year old but not to a 13 year old. Play with it a little bit and pick out 2 or 3 outfits that work.
