Does anyone have a child that has been a stand out athlete in a sport - or multiple sports?

drcole22,
If you are talking about acting , then I would agree with you that if you have a child with talent, then nurturing it is similar to parents who nurture a talent for sports. Certainly, classes, headshots, camps etc. go along with that territory.
The discussion regarding Nathan seems to be primarily focused on Print. There is no "talent" where print is concerned. A child is either photogenic or not. There is no career prep for nurturing a budding modeling career. Modeling is something that very few kids will ever be able to take to the next level as an adult or junior because you never know how tall a kid is going to grow to be.
Adult fashion models need to be 5'9 or taller. At 5'7 or 5'8, a model might find some success in runway or editorial work but even the junior divisions (not childrens) have height requirements. Modeling can not be compared to sports because you just cant control the variables. No amount of training is going to make you taller or make you more beautiful or photogenic.
You can train to act. You really cant "train" to be a model excpet to perhaps learn to walk a runway. But for the difference between the two, I otherwise agree with you. Smiler

Actors mommy, I have looked at your posts and you really love to see your words in print don't you? You live on this board so I can not even see when you would have time to take your child to anything giving you over 21 pages of authored posts of much to do about nothing. Look at some of your posts and see who is really on an ego trip! lol!

I will tell you nothing of my demographics but I can assure you we are within comfortable hours of the city.

The myspace thing, that really rattles you doesn't it? You crack me up with your "Normalcy" speech. Yes, I believe many of us have come to the conclusion that you are a follower not a leader by reading your rambling posts.

Myspace again, I see you did hop over and try to take a look at the myspace which was my plan to begin with but surprise it's on private! And in you hoping right on over, I learned a lot about you. Think about that for a minute. See you in the city tomorrow actorsmommy. Have a great night and it was indeed a pleasure. Red Face)

Actorsmommy and Kipmil will you be typing "MY DADDY IS BETTER THAN YOUR DADDY!" next? Such school girl behavior and stage mom antics. Let me remind you that you each were once NEWBIES. I can only imagine the eyeballs rolling when you two walk into a casting with kids in tow. NUF SAID!

Definition of ego trip.....

Actorsmommy
"2 months is a pretty common lag time for print pay (at least at my my agency). I wouldnt start sweatin......"

&

" We We are with a print agency alone…."

Hmmmmmmmmmm.... "MY AGENCY" "MY AGENCY"... "WE" "WE" ARE WITH A PRINT AGENCY".........

Hmmmm I wouldn't call this an ego trip, I would call it living vicariously through one's child. What do you call it actorsmommy since you typed it.

I dont have a myspace page so I cant imagine what you've learned. If you want to pimp out your kids on myspace, then by all means go right ahead. The rest of your post is just babble. Trust me, I dont have to qualify my own kid's experience. I think the majority of parents who have established kids in the industry...and there are hundreds of them who read this board.... will wake up tomorrow and find your posts, myspace pages and declaration that your kids are with a top NYC agency "K&M" quite hysterical. That alone will send me to bed with a smile on my face and LMAO at you.
PS. I happen to know your FFT agent Charlie. I'll be sure to tell him that he needs to give Bella and Jakes Mom a few lesson next time I see him.

Really? I beg my daughter to quit print all the time. I dont like spending the 15-20 minutes it takes us to get from our front door to any midtown location for the go-see, time and low pay. You drive HOURS to get them back and forth, have myspace pages, and submitted them multiple times before needing a photographer to get you in the doorc. Whose living vicariously here?

Oh yes, you do that and then he will let us know who the wackjob on this forum was that had Nathan by the juggler vein along with your other lackeys that have bashed him to heck and back. I am sure he will reprimand me for standing up to you after you got miffed that how dare a newbie even speak in your seasoned presence.<p>

Also, I do not recall ever asking you a thing about your child in the industry yet you keep spoon feeding it regardless. Tattling on me to Charlie, please! How old are you btw? That is the most hysterical thing I have ever heard. And let me clarify one more time to you actorsmommy; when your child has an agent it does not mean he is YOUR agent. You really need to work on that. Repeat after me, "My child’s agent is not MY agent; my child’s agent is not MY agent". You and I are just the parent that pays for our children to do what they love. However, some of us take it a little bit more serious than the rest of us, huh actorsmommy? Regarding my children’s' top NYC print agent... he is the tops to my kids and at the end of the day that is all that matters. And my kid’s local agent she knows her stuff too. She does not need your seal of approval. My kids get booked without it. See you in the city.

Oh actorsmommy, you are fishing without bait again. You are obviously very interested in my kids or you would stop inquiring of them. Are you even in the industry? Or just a child predator hanging out pretending to be in the "NORM" as you keep repeating? I ask this because the choice of derogatory insults/words you have used here tonight are very frightening. "Pimp kids, exploit children". You are indeed a frightening person and I feel you need an intervention.

This all stemming from me coming on this board, opening up an account and defending Nathan. You say you will go to bed with a smile on your face tonight…I too will go to bed now with a smile on my face because while I have kept you occupied trying to take a stab at my jugular vein, you have managed to leave Nathan’s alone.

Signed,
Master of Puppets

I'm sure Nathan will cringe tomorrow when he sees that the biggest & nastiest whack job of all, YOU has chosen to take on the role of his defender. Congratulations! You've ruined his reputation even further. I'm sure he's thrilled to know that someone whose followed all his advice is pimping out her kids via a myspace page. Pedophile Heaven! And dont tell us your page is "private". You have your agencies listed right there on the front and any pedo can call your agent and request your kids for 50 bucks an hour now. Smart move!

I KNOW Charlie will cringe when he sees what you have posted here. Jake and Bella should be so proud.

N'ite Dummy.

Oh I would so love to know who you are and I am sure they would too. Especially after all they have to do is search to see what you have said about each of them. And regarding myspace, p-l-e-a-s-e! They are on our friends list within myspace so you have no smoking gun! lol! What you have is a lot of smut on your mind. You are frightening, you really are. And $50 jobs, maybe you break for $50 jobs, but my kids time is worth a little more than that. That twenty percent takes a pretty chunk out of that $50. No wonder you are so angry.

Sleep tight.

Yeah we know. Your kids "time" is worth six hours of driving back and forth in a car for a 2 minute go-see that they get NO pay for. You are Mom of the year.
Your kids are so valuable that you couldnt even get through the door of a NYC agency without Nathans help....your own words by the way.
Goodnight clueless.

Bellaandjakesmom

You need to go the PARF site and read the thread
Parents of Actors 101

You never know who you are taking to or who is reading this. Telling people to duct tape their mouths makes you look bad. I am also a newbie and I did buy Nathans book. The way you are going about things to defend him is not going well and is not really helping him. Nathan has already come here and said his peace. People can have there opinion and you should not be attacking them. From what I have read you look like the crazy one. So you need to take a few steps back because you never know who is reading this. If you do go on the PARF board I would suggest not starting your comments on the thread about Nathan over there. They do not put up with this kind of nonsense and you will be banned permently from posting.

to kipmil...wow!!!!you must be clairvoyant...please tell me all the "personal" info that you know about my kids...ages, grades name of agent, .their names....seems to me that you don`t know ANYTHING about my kids so it is interesting that you accuse me of spreading their personal info on the internet...yet again, NOT A CREDIBLE POSTER....and if you were so important in this industry you would not have so much free time to write your 700 blogs....you are a joke!!!!!

SERIOUSLY, SOMEONE END THIS AND BE THE BETTER PERSON!!!

Actorsmommy ~ I agree with you when comparing the training for modeling - although a school like Barbizon is out there for it. I wonder about that as well since we have one close by in Chicago area - heard it can be expensive. Since my daughter is only 5, I will not go that route. My daughter is lucky to have nice features and photographs beautifully. She has some good genes, dad is 6'5" (his brother 6'8", sister and mom 5'11") - so runway may be an option someday. I know that modeling/print is just one part of this business - she did a student film and surprised us all with how well she did and how much she enjoyed it. Like many others, I am hoping that one path may lead to another. Thank you for seeing my view on the comparisons of sports and modeling/acting. I think it is good to give kids an opportunity to try many different things because you just don't know what may come of it. That is how I feel about the free contest submission...just never know!
