quote: Does anyone have a child that has been a stand out athlete in a sport - or multiple sports?
drcole22, If you are talking about acting , then I would agree with you that if you have a child with talent, then nurturing it is similar to parents who nurture a talent for sports. Certainly, classes, headshots, camps etc. go along with that territory. The discussion regarding Nathan seems to be primarily focused on Print. There is no "talent" where print is concerned. A child is either photogenic or not. There is no career prep for nurturing a budding modeling career. Modeling is something that very few kids will ever be able to take to the next level as an adult or junior because you never know how tall a kid is going to grow to be. Adult fashion models need to be 5'9 or taller. At 5'7 or 5'8, a model might find some success in runway or editorial work but even the junior divisions (not childrens) have height requirements. Modeling can not be compared to sports because you just cant control the variables. No amount of training is going to make you taller or make you more beautiful or photogenic. You can train to act. You really cant "train" to be a model excpet to perhaps learn to walk a runway. But for the difference between the two, I otherwise agree with you.

Actors mommy, I have looked at your posts and you really love to see your words in print don't you? You live on this board so I can not even see when you would have time to take your child to anything giving you over 21 pages of authored posts of much to do about nothing. Look at some of your posts and see who is really on an ego trip! lol! I will tell you nothing of my demographics but I can assure you we are within comfortable hours of the city. The myspace thing, that really rattles you doesn't it? You crack me up with your "Normalcy" speech. Yes, I believe many of us have come to the conclusion that you are a follower not a leader by reading your rambling posts. Myspace again, I see you did hop over and try to take a look at the myspace which was my plan to begin with but surprise it's on private! And in you hoping right on over, I learned a lot about you. Think about that for a minute. See you in the city tomorrow actorsmommy. Have a great night and it was indeed a pleasure. )

quote: Hmmmm I wouldn't call this an ego trip, I would call it living vicariously through one's child. What do you call it actorsmommy since you typed it.
Really? I beg my daughter to quit print all the time. I dont like spending the 15-20 minutes it takes us to get from our front door to any midtown location for the go-see, time and low pay. You drive HOURS to get them back and forth, have myspace pages, and submitted them multiple times before needing a photographer to get you in the doorc. Whose living vicariously here?

Oh actorsmommy, you are fishing without bait again. You are obviously very interested in my kids or you would stop inquiring of them. Are you even in the industry? Or just a child predator hanging out pretending to be in the "NORM" as you keep repeating? I ask this because the choice of derogatory insults/words you have used here tonight are very frightening. "Pimp kids, exploit children". You are indeed a frightening person and I feel you need an intervention. This all stemming from me coming on this board, opening up an account and defending Nathan. You say you will go to bed with a smile on your face tonight…I too will go to bed now with a smile on my face because while I have kept you occupied trying to take a stab at my jugular vein, you have managed to leave Nathan’s alone. Signed, Master of Puppets

Yeah we know. Your kids "time" is worth six hours of driving back and forth in a car for a 2 minute go-see that they get NO pay for. You are Mom of the year. Your kids are so valuable that you couldnt even get through the door of a NYC agency without Nathans help....your own words by the way. Goodnight clueless.
