Hi everyone...
I need some help here.... you can email me or just direct me in the direction...
Smiler

1. My kids have been doing some commercials and some movie extras for the past 1-2 years...
WE live in Pittsburgh so not much is happening here... Now that I will be laid off work I will have a lot of time to take them places for auditions.. all I did so far was register with two local casting agencies and that is it.. They call us when they need us..
The boys are 6 and 5 yr old TWINS.. so the TWINS are always in demand..
I was thinking about sending out resume and headshots to NY commercial and film agencies..
I have tried to find a list on this forum but could only find LA agents.. (that is to far of a drive LOL)
if anyone can help please...

Than I need some basic info....
2. What is the deal with union and non union.. Do you have to register somewhere?. Or how do you get into a union??

3. What is the Taft- Hartley???

4. Should I look for a manger or an Agent..?
What would you recommend???

5. When I send the photos out should I mail them all separately or all in one envelope..
I know I will send the TWINS in together but should I use a separate envelope for the oldest?? or it doesn’t matter??

6. What was your first step in getting the kids started??

sorry so many questions but i guess this is the best forum to ask....

thanks
Appriciate any help and advise...

merima22@yahoo.com

Also if anyone know any Good Photographers here in PA let me know.. we need new headshots..

**** One more question... how often do you ge the headshots taken??? every 9/12 months for kids??

Hi and welcome. Do a search on your topics of interest, as there are threads on most of them. You will find good information there.

If you have not found BizParentz - I urge you to do so! The web is: www.bizzparentz.com It is full of information which will be so valuable to you and your children. There is information concerning agencies, managers, unions, Taft-Hartley, education (most important) work permits, etc. I refer to this site constantly!

Headshots need to look like your child. With the age of your kid, I would say needed every year -- therefore, take them wisely and don't go crazy with expensive photographers and printing.

Good luck!

Along with the bizparentz.com website, this wonderful thread by Mominbiz will answer many of your questions:

Your travel distance from NYC will pose several problems. Most agencies want their kids within 2 hours of the city.

Are the twins identical?

I also want to mention that the way to do a search is to use the "Find" button (in the row of little red buttons above the first post in any thread). Just click "Find" and type in a keyword or phrase you want info about (such as "Taft-Hartley"), then UNcheck the box that says "Search current forum only" and click "Submit."

I'm curious. You registered with Belajac and Mosser, who are casting agents, but are you registered with Docherty Talent Agency or The Talent Group? Things are really hopping in the burgh, so there's a lot of movie stuff, I agree. And I see on Pittsburgh Film Office they were looking for twins for the Denzel movie. What's the third agent? I'm just saying, if you want legit reps, Talent Group and Docherty are the best in this area.

With 2 sets of identical twin boys, there may be a manager in NY willing to get them on tape for the right project. Try Shirley Grant.
I would send all 4 headshots together in one envelop.

Docherty doesn't care about headshots. If your kids are "bookable" they prefer the parents to spend time taking up to date cute snapshots. I am a terrible photogapher so I got professional headshots done of my daughter, but if you're good, just send a disk in. They are really big on discouraging parents from going overboard. Contact Deb Docherty.
