Hi! I've read so much on this site about how to get started and thank you to all who take the time to share with us novices! Mominbiz wrote a great post on this in July 2005 which I found in the search -- wonderful resource! I took the advice of Mominbiz and wrote a cover letter about my DD strengths - I'd love feedback/comments before sending it out to agency. Please be honest if I sound too much like an over proud (or pushy) Mom.
Here it is: Dear Ms. XXXXX (agent's name here):
Enclosed is a headshot and resume of my daughter, E----- for your consideration.
E------, is an intelligent, well-spoken and mature 10 year old who loves to laugh, but is also very serious about acting. She is a hard worker and thrives on new challenges. You and your clients will find that E---'s easy-going personality and cooperative attitude make her great to work with.
For the past five years, E----- has focused on live theatre, including several musicals and a paid role. Most recently, she played "Marta" in The Sound of Music and performed the role of "Maryke, the Dutch girl" in Miracle on 34th Street, which required her to both speak and sing in Dutch!
At this time, E----- is interested in applying her talents to the venues of film and print modeling and hopes that [Agency Name] will be a part of her future endeavors. Thank you for considering E----- and feel free to contact us at any time.
Cordially,
My name Xxxxx (parent) & Daughters name Xxxxx

Looks good to me! I think your daughter's headshot & resume will determine the agents level of interest. I'm not sure if they will even get through the entire cover letter...Of course, we analyze everything- seal or not seal the envelope, what color should the envelope be, etc. In the end, if your daughter lives reasonably close, has a great look & some decent experience, hopefully she'll get some interest. Best of luck to you!!!

I'm not sure I would say print andmodeling when submitting to agents. Most agencies are either/or and one may not like the fact that you are pursuing the other. They want you free for their purposes. So if I was submitting for print, I would focus on a print cover letter and vice versa.

In addition to seconding actorsmommy point, I want to add that in general I like the warmth and professionalism of the letter. It gives a nice flavor of who you would be to work with and enough about your DD to pique interest. GL.
