first of all ipod was totally wrong about the annie audition. the cd's started letting people in at 9am. It was very orginized and very respectfully done. they had about 350 kids audition. my daughter made it all the way through the callbacks yesterday. They have 5 orphans left to cast and are considering 6 girls for each orphan. they also handed out the touring schedule to us and the salary!
It was a great day and although they probably knew from the start who they were casting for annie and a few of the orphans...we are still in the waiting game stage and i have a feeling they are going to make calls for who they pick within the next couple of days.
I am so happy that I didnt take ipods bitter words to heart and brought my kid to the audition if anything...she had a great experience!

So glad your experience was great. Congrats for making the final call backs! I'm surprised there were only 350 girls. I would have expected a much bigger turnout. Maybe because this tour is non-equity, the turnout was smaller than last year. But last year's open call was for orphans only. Annie had already been cast. Last year, people were notified by the middle of the week. Let us know what happens!

thanks and yes it was great!
I think they are going to make the calls today or "tommorrow"....ha ha. Everytime my cell phone rings my stomache turns!!!!
yes I think they already had annie in mind but they did have a group of girls reading for that as well...so you never know. we went in knowing that she wouldnt get annie and that is fine. I think they have her in mind for molly, the littlest one. Because my daugter was one of the younger ones at 9 yrs old and very petite. so we will see at this point it is a one in six chance....always so close!!!

hi
just wanted to add some info..
in response to the questions in general..yes, people did have audition time appts from agents, but that only meant you did not have to wait outside in the long line to get in. Once you were inside you were grouped with everyone else who had waited. They took about 40 kids at a time had them sing as a group and then individually, then they called back about half of those girls (maybe a little less)..then they taught the dance combination to the girls in the same groups..however there were a good number of girls who already knew the combination, either from attending numerous past auditions, or from having actually BEEN in the cast last year..i am not sure why they had those girls audition again, as it seems that they were definately being cast again. If you did not know the dance in advance i would say it was a pretty big disadvantage, in particular for the younger kids who might have needed a bit more time to get it down. I heard last nite that the role of molly has already been cast, for 6 months to the girl who played it last year, and for the last 3 months to a girl they flew in from LA who had been seen on some TV kids talent show..but that may all just be rumor! My daughter got first call back but was cut after the dance section (around 5pm), still overall good experience and it was all handled very professionaly there, I thought. good luck to those waiting to hear!

hey thanks for the info. it is good to know and yes you never know what the truth is until they tell you. yesterday they told the final 30 that we would all get an email (if we dont get a call) who got the parts so i will keep you all posted when i get the email...or maybe some small glimmer of hope a call.
also it is strange that you say the 6 month thing and the 3 month thing that they split the role because the cd said to all of us and stated in the paperwork that there will be no split cast or layoffs so who knows where the truth lies!???? we will have to wait and see. also the dance combination they taught was completely different from last year.

interesting about the dance routine, bc when they announced the callback after dance, the blond guy actually got up and said, "if your child is cut after this dance part, its the area they need to work on..THE DANCE COMBINATION NEVER CHANGES" leading us to believe it was the same as in the past..and a mom next to me from the midwest, whos daughter had gone to all the "replacement auditions" told the rest of us that the routine was the same her child had done in those auditions..and in fact when they were calling out the names BEFORE the kids went in to learn the dance, the blond guy actually asked the girls to say yes or no as to whether or not they already knew the dance routine from past auditions..and lots said yes! GOOD LUCK!!! I hope you get a good call and SOON!! ( :

Until contracts are signed and offical cast list is published, everything is heresay. Sometimes rumors are spread to psych kids out or for other less than noble reasons. So my advice is - don't assume you are out of the running until you get the official word from production or until the official cast list is published. Smiler

My DD said over the course of the weekend said 100 times" thanks Mom for bringing me to NY" and it always followed with a hug.

I met Donnastagemom and many others from other STATES that traveled in. It was for sure worth every PENNY I spent and may do it again in the future.I was just so proud of her for being called back. After my daughter was cut during the 2nd round (dancing) and she teared up for a brief time Donnastagemom's dd "R" gave her a hug and that made me tear up. It was so sweet and I will never forget it. Our fingers are crossed for R and please keep in touch! I hope R liked her bday suprise.

Heidi, your dd has alot of experience so I figured she'd enjoy the audition. Annie auditions with Martin Charnin are always a lot of fun. I'm so glad your dd had a good audition experience. Let us know when you plan your next visit to NY! Did you get a chance to pick up the book I recommended?

just wanted to add that i meant no harm in passing along what i had heard re molly...i apologize for writing it, as it is indeed just a rumor that i had heard. I did not mean to upset anyone and certainly wish you and your daughter all the best in being cast! I thought the whole day was a great experience and had met a lot of great moms and kids...no regrets for me on having gone.
