They have 5 orphans left to cast and are considering 6 girls for each orphan. they also handed out the touring schedule to us and the salary! It was a great day and although they probably knew from the start who they were casting for annie and a few of the orphans...we are still in the waiting game stage and i have a feeling they are going to make calls for who they pick within the next couple of days. I am so happy that I didnt take ipods bitter words to heart and brought my kid to the audition if anything...she had a great experience!
So glad your experience was great. Congrats for making the final call backs! I'm surprised there were only 350 girls. I would have expected a much bigger turnout. Maybe because this tour is non-equity, the turnout was smaller than last year. But last year's open call was for orphans only. Annie had already been cast. Last year, people were notified by the middle of the week. Let us know what happens!

hi just wanted to add some info.. in response to the questions in general..yes, people did have audition time appts from agents, but that only meant you did not have to wait outside in the long line to get in. Once you were inside you were grouped with everyone else who had waited. They took about 40 kids at a time had them sing as a group and then individually, then they called back about half of those girls (maybe a little less)..then they taught the dance combination to the girls in the same groups..however there were a good number of girls who already knew the combination, either from attending numerous past auditions, or from having actually BEEN in the cast last year..i am not sure why they had those girls audition again, as it seems that they were definately being cast again. If you did not know the dance in advance i would say it was a pretty big disadvantage, in particular for the younger kids who might have needed a bit more time to get it down. I heard last nite that the role of molly has already been cast, for 6 months to the girl who played it last year, and for the last 3 months to a girl they flew in from LA who had been seen on some TV kids talent show..but that may all just be rumor! My daughter got first call back but was cut after the dance section (around 5pm), still overall good experience and it was all handled very professionaly there, I thought. good luck to those waiting to hear!

Until contracts are signed and offical cast list is published, everything is heresay. Sometimes rumors are spread to psych kids out or for other less than noble reasons. So my advice is - don't assume you are out of the running until you get the official word from production or until the official cast list is published.

Kipmil--My DD and I had a blast in NY and we saw Mary Poppins and loved it. Saw tons of things and walked all over Time Square. My DD said over the course of the weekend said 100 times" thanks Mom for bringing me to NY" and it always followed with a hug.
I met Donnastagemom and many others from other STATES that traveled in. It was for sure worth every PENNY I spent and may do it again in the future.I was just so proud of her for being called back. After my daughter was cut during the 2nd round (dancing) and she teared up for a brief time Donnastagemom's dd "R" gave her a hug and that made me tear up. It was so sweet and I will never forget it. Our fingers are crossed for R and please keep in touch! I hope R liked her bday suprise.
Heidi, your dd has alot of experience so I figured she'd enjoy the audition. Annie auditions with Martin Charnin are always a lot of fun. I'm so glad your dd had a good audition experience. Let us know when you plan your next visit to NY! Did you get a chance to pick up the book I recommended?

It's typical...it's the nature of the biz.
