Hi. Today my 11 yr old ds has his 1st commercial interview. Unfotunatly my 13yr old dd that usaully babysits is not feeling well so i would need to bring my 3 yr old ds with us to the aud. How frowned upon is this. Do I cancel his aud. or can I take him with me. I hate to call the mng co and ask such a ques. Thanks for advice!

I've taken siblings one time, in an emergency, but I would not make a habit of it. This particular casting office was very crowded and I could tell they were not welcome. Fortunately this CD knew my dd already and it worked out ok. In general it is it best to never take siblings. CDs know who should and should not be there. Plus many of the offices are very small and not a great place to try to contain younger siblings. So, I'd say, do it today, but I would suggest doing whatever you can to keep your little one occupied and quiet.

I know that most of the time they don't want anyone at the audition except the child and 1 guardian. If it's an emergency situation, I guess it would be "OK" but if they don't know you, it leaves a bad first impression.

I know that I've been on auditions with my daughter where a parent will trapse in with her child, her other children, her friends' kids, cousins, etc... They would say something like "I thought you could use them, too"..... I can guarantee you, no matter how good the kid was, they wouldn't use her because of the mother's actions. The audition is for the child who was called in, not for the 15 relatives, friends, etc that the mother decided to "bring along" because she thought the CD could "use them". I actually saw one mother get told to make them leave because only her child was called and they didn't want extra people milling around the waiting area (I wonder if HER kid got the part? I would think not!)

It's a tough call with a 3 year old. Can you get the kid to sit quietly. If you want to PM me and tell me which casting office, I can tell possibly give you a guesstimate of how crowded the office will be and how long you are likely to be waiting. With that said, I do see siblings at auditions, but as DianeNYC said, it is frowned upon, especially if they are not sitting like little angels.

Family are the best! That's great she could come with you. I was going to say the same as the other moms. I think for an emergency it's ok but try to avoid it! Good luck today!
