We recently did an audition session with Lane Napper. It was set up like a real audition. My DD got sides in advance. She walked in and ti was treated as an audition instead of a class. There were two readers. Lane was behind a camera. They then gave her a cold read. After they showed us both the scenes and gave vey useful feedback. He is in NY periodically.

Lane is fabulous...my DD's favorite teacher of all! But Lane is no longer in NY. Have you thought of letting him take a class? If your heart is set on a coach, try Anne Ratray. I hear she is very good.

Is it commercial or feature film auditions you are referring to?

Is it the acting? or the auditioning that you feel he needs work on? Meaning does he walk in the room make eye contact, introduce himself, have an interesting slate, able to carry on conversations with the cds, does he sway when standing and reading, or have a specific stance that he does for every read (ie his-- not how the charactor would stand) Lane is wonderful at helping fix all these little nuances to make your child a better auditioner. He's also a great acting coach if you need help on a scene -- eric is also very good --- an associate of his that he refers for when Lane is away. Don't have his last name handy but I know others do.

If they are looking for someone to help with commercial auditions - presence, slating, technique, cold read - then Barry Shapiro is your guy. For Tv and FF auditioning skills, I agree with Castlerock...Lane Napper is the guy. And I would also use Eric Davis...he's fantastic as well.

UH-OH,WHAT HAPPENED! Do tell. My DD's experience was great with him. She didn't book a feature film yet but the two auditions (for feature film) that she went on she got to the final callback. I don't know anybody else that goes to him, my DD's manager recommened him but I'am very interested to find out about other people's experience with him. Thanks! He's located at 341 West 47th st.

Ohh...Ok..Whewww! I thought it was something bad. He seemed very nice.He had 2 teenagers working with him and he got 1 of the teens to run lines with my DD while he watched. He then critics-tells you what you did wrong, how to express the line, how your facial expression should be,body lanquage,etc...We both learned alot. I now know how to run lines with her for commercials and etc...He's very expensive so we only go when she has a big audition. Even though she didn't get the feature film she did book Law and Order and 2 commercials AFTER going to him.
