Hi all! Did anyone here participate in the Industry Showcase Night that Random Farms Kids theater held last week? Just wondering if anyone received any calls yet. This was our first one so I am not sure how long it takes someone to call if they are interested.

Hi, my dd participated in the Wednesday night show. I was told CESD, Abrams, Nick, Shirley Grant, JMM and Goldstar were there. I think there were a few others. No calls yet.

My DD did Random farms last year but there was no industry showcase. Is this new since they moved into their new space and was the showcase in their new space in Elmsford?

Yes this was new and the showcase was in the city. It was by audition only.

My daughter was in the Wed one also! We didn't get any calls yet. This was the third one they did. I think you named all the reps. Oh and Generation was on the list too. My daughter had such a good time. Hope you get a call soon!

The Random Farms industry showcase is both new AND old - - Anya used to do these for the kids cast in her mainstage shows many years ago. My daughter was in one about 5 years ago, and we happened to watch the video a few months ago - it was fun to see a number of kids, in their "younger days", who've gone on to big things!

Good luck to everyone who was in the showcase - RFKT is known for its talented kids, so I'm sure a lot of kids will get calls!

Thanks! This is our first time and my daughter is loving it. Does it normally take a long time for the agents to call if they are interested? Just curious since this is a first for us. I am loving this message board though. So much info.

Has anyone ever gotten calls from these industry nights? I know Monica Robinson and Denise Simon did them too when they had the Cabaret workshops. My daughter and a lot of her friends did it with her. No one ever got called from them. My daughter, as I mentioned before, got approached by her agent after a regional show she was doing.

I hope that the kids do get calls though. Break a leg to everyone who auditioned!!!

Jeremy Quinn who used to run the theatre group at Westchester Broadway Theater also has an industry showcase coming up or might have just had it. He has a new group now called Outside the Box. He has a website though. It seemed when he wrote the initial email to everyone he was talking disparaging about other theater groups who just do workshop after workshop and never teach a thing - I had an inkling he was referring to Random Farms. I thought that was in very poor taste. But he did send out the same notice that you had to audition for an industry showcase he was having with agents, etc. He didn't say who would be there at least in the email we received.

I know kids at M Burns are generally called the next day because the agents usually want to be the first to scoop up certain kids (the ones they want) before a competitor calls. I'd be surprised if no one gets calls from a Random farms showcase because the kids at RF all can sing and they generally like singers. Good luck to those of you who were in the showcase!

Just spoke to my girlfriend whose daughter went and she wasn't called but another friend of ours has a 10 year old daughter who was called. Don't know the details as to which agency/manager but at least one child who auditioned was called!

My DD did a showcase called 'Casting Call' at the JCC in Tenafly. She received several offers. I also know of other kids who received offers after this showcase.

Also, Random Farms does an excellent job of teaching performance skills THROUGH their workshops. It is often obvious, when you see a local performance, which kids have done Random Farms.

DD is signed, but received more and different auditions after a Madelyn Burns showcase.

So, yes - for the right kid - the showcases work.

Also wanted to add - some offers came in quickly, others took weeks (the showcase was in November, so it could have been the time of year.)

Good Luck to all!

Hi, Somuchtodo - when was the showcase at the JCC? How often do they have them and how do you find out about them?

hi...it's so nice to hear that other people haven't received any calls yet either. I had just given up hope...but now I'm thinking that there's still a chance that SOMEONE will call for my 11 year old daughter!!

I DO know that a friend's daughter who was in the Wednesday showcase got a COUPLE of calls. I'm really happy for her, but discouraged for my own child. Also, someone who had a daughter in the Thursday showcase (with MY daughter) got a call.

What do you suppose the "time limit" is on hoping for calls? Also, I'm new to this board...what is a "dd"???

Hope everyone else is keeping their hopes up...best of luck!! I'd love to hear if anyone gets a call!!
