xoxglossy,

Give her a call and I am sure she'll answer all your questions. As others here have said, she is very nice. I do believe she has one day workshops (or they might be 2 days).
Good Luck!

I have to add one thing. madalynes is not the place to be if you are not ready. She does have casting directors and agents there, but if you are not ready it won't do you any good.

Edited to ad, this is in regard to her 2 day intensives, we have never done the 6 week classes. The 2 day was successful and my daughter was called in directly by a CD for backround on a soap.

Star...that's uncalled for. Many people get a lot out of Madelyn's showcases and if you do not have firsthand experience you should not comment. If you don't think they are right for your kids, don't go.

Nobody is getting kickbacks, there is nothing mysterious or unusual about Madelyn Burn and her workshops. Madelyn is well-connected and gets top agents and CDs to come teach her workshops and watch her showcases. These agents and CDs are definitely there to scout talent. This is a venue where you can show your stuff and make an impression. It is a great opportunity, IF your kid is ready. We've had amazing outcomes each time our dd has taken a workshop or done a showcase.

starrising....NO, I do not get any kickbacks from Madelyn Burns. I am a parent and I pay like everyone else. Also, many people here know me personally so I can say unequivically and with full legal confidence that my answer to your question is, "NO I do not get any kickbacks". Backstage may be anonymous for most people, but not so for me.

Further, Madelyn gives credit card reciepts for every class and believe me, I have ALL of mine as the classes are fully tax deductible!

Lastly, I would just as vigorously defend Diane Hardin or Lane Napper if someone were unfairly derogatory to them. I hope that answers your ridiculous question.

P.S. ..... as the two posters before me said, there is no mystery to Ms. Burns. No one has a gun to your head. If you dont like the price, dont take the class. That simple.

Hi Alina,

When you do a showcase you will be remembered if your good and know what your doing, you should come off as confident. unfortunately if you could also be remembered for being bad.

Here's my take on Madelyn Burns...A kid can have a ton of talent, but sometimes exposure to the right people in the industry (agents, managers, CDs) is just what they need to help them jump to the next level a little more quickly than if they did not have that exposure. At MB, kids have access this exposure. If the kid has "it," they will get noticed very quickly at MB workshops and showcases.

Also, at MB, kids are surrounded by other professional kids. They learn from each other, how to behave, perform, audition ect. The lessons learned there, over time, have been invaluable for my dd.

OK, I give. All this talk of MB...I'll bite Wink How long are her work shops? What are the different prices. Is it good for a 4 year old? Will he have the attention span to last the class? How many kids per class?

In my humble opinion I like how Kipmil has explained it, she is always gracious in her presentation and responses, and well read. Also, she is never offensive in her posts. Oh, and no I don't know her never met the woman just like how she posts, she doesn't make you want to jump on the defense, as some post here are less than kind. So from what I have read. Basically MB gives your child an extra opportunity for exposure. It is up to you if you would like to pay for your child to receive this additional exposure or not. Also any one can charge anything for what ever service they provide. Who am I to judge how expensive or what a persons worth is. The real question is can I afford it and do I BELIEVE it is worth the investment, simple....

So any positive about this ladies workshops for younger children or neutral would be appreciated. I gather her workshops are great IF your child is ready, it would be a great introduction to the powers that be. So essentially I am asking what age this starts.

These classes are probably not appropriate for a four year old. In addition, most people would not suggest any type of classes for that age. The ability to work with a director and portray the right emotions are what count at four.

Actually there are classes for 4-7 year olds at MB. The kids are adorable and they have a lot of fun in the classes. They do little scenes and the agents LOVE the little kid showcase. Many of them are cute and talented enough to get picked up by agents or managers for representation. When it comes to the little ones, cute and outgoing goes a long way.

Thanks Optimistic. I'm glad you find my posts helpful. Just sharing my experience...nothing more.

BTW, I think the little kids' workshop at MB runs about 6 weeks, give or take a week. Don't know the price. You can call her and ask.
