Yes, and even when there is a wrangler or chaperone, it is important for every parent to get to know them and be sure they follow through with their jobs, making sure the kids are doing their homework (when needed) and keeping the kids safe from accidents, and sometimes from each other, due to goofing off backstage. Oh the stories I could tell!

Theater professionals should know better, but they don't seem to.
I totally agree. I cringe everytime I read a bio that gives TMI - too much information.

Somuchtodo, Your post about kids' bios in theater is so true. Here's a story... As a young teen doing lots of community theater, I always put the school I attended in my bio. After many shows at a particular theater, I got a phone call from a man who said he had been watching me perform for a while and looked up my info in the phone book. Mind you, this was in the early 80's before stalking laws came into effect. He continued to harass me for the next 10 years or so, breaking into my car at times and leaving "gifts" which eventually escalated into hard core porn. He knew where I lived and for years after, knew where I worked. The police said there was nothing they could do until he actually made physical contact. I never saw this man and to this day, I don't know what he looks like. This happened in a small town in the midwest, and I consider myself lucky that nothing more ever happened. No matter where you live or perform, you need to be careful with your child's information!

In regards to showbiz, my kids have nothing to sell, therefore I do not think they ever need a "personal/marketing website." I think their IMDB pages provide all the professional info needed for people in the biz to get a sense of what they've been doing.

Thank you for sharing your story as well ocmom, that is so sickening, thankfully nothing even worse came of it. We can all learn from others' experiences to keep our kids safe.
