When we go to a go see or an open call what do we need to bring? Is there any type of permit or somthing along those lines for my 14 DS i have to obtain?

Get the permit in advance. If you don't have it you may not get the job. Some say get a passport as well.

get the permit for NY & CA, no charge, just forms to fill out. Go to bizparentz.org and there are links to the permit sites. There is also a model permit in NY that you should look into (I have no experience with that). passports take a while so why not get them for you and your child now?

for acting it is better to wait until you get the booking and you can get one on-line that is good for 16 days I believe it is. At the same time apply for the other one which is longer. If you get the permit to early and it expires while you are waiting for the longer permit your child will not be able to work.

Better to just get the work permit ahead of time as showbiz said -- sometimes you have no time to run around and get stuff ready, also sometimes they ask you if you have one on hand that they need faxed over immediately, better to look professional and be prepared. The permit is good for 6 months and is free, just remember to renew after 5 months!!

I can see what you're saying here, but I would still think its best to get it an advance as well. Sometimes auditions pop up with only 24 hour notice, some are the same day, and even at the audition, they may want to see, or at least know that the child has a work permit. You have to be careful, and its better to be safe than sorry. I understand your point though!

Castlerock u r so right about renewing it after 5 months. Right now my kids expire the first week of school and u know I need the letter from school in order to renew it. Great advice!
