Do you personally share audition/casting notices with other actors (whether they are direct competition or not). Do others share with you?

I am beginning to think that I am too nice in sharing information with others. Do I need to start just looking out for number uno?

Good question, I am always passing things on to my daughter and her friends. I wonder should I just look out for my daughter.

I see my few actor acquaintances at all of the same auditions, so there's no need to share--they have the same info I do.

The thing is, several of these people are not necessarily scouring online like I am. If I find things that i think people are interested in, I will forward it to them. In a few cases, people have landed the roles. I am just not sure if I am wasting my time (and giving possible competition a leg up) by sharing what I find. I must add that my actions are not reciprocated.

So why are you doing their work for them for free?

My thoughts exactly. I have to stop being nice (ree: naive).

Thank you for your candid reply.

I used to share my information all the time- "Hey, I'm auditioning for __________ this weekend, do you want to come with me?" But after I did this for a bit I realised that I was doing all the work for these people. Sure, it was fun having this or that friend at the audition with me, but they usually weren't half as dedicated as I was/am. It's not hard to find the auditions I do- I just look and don't wait for things to come to me. So these days, I don't tell people about the auditions- if they want to find them, they will find them.

(However, on a side note, if I do see something that one of the acting friends is absolutely PERFECT for, I will tell them.)

I usually tell someone just for the simple fact that I can take someone else with me. I feel really uncomfortable going to an audition by myself. Maybe I'm just being unnecessarily paranoid, but is there any positive way to be sure an audition is real or just some ploy to get pretty women to send pictures or contact info, or come to an "audition"?
