Hi,

Since I started acting in local theatre, Ive been thinking about getting on the higher level with my acting dreams. I was wondering If I am able to do the real pro life experience with it. Finally after many doubts I decided to move to US to find out If I can.

Why USA. Im from Poland and in my opinion the market is too small to make a living of it. 10 good actors/meter square hehe.

Im totally new with all agent stuff and representation. Even with schools in US and possibilities. So one can ask - What is my point -

1. How to get an agent, representation and where (in which city) it is the most possible for the new.
2. Are acting schools really helping with getting an agent, representation?
3. Which place (LA,NY,...) is the most comfortable for the new who is looking for auditions etc.
4.Is it possible for a foreigner to get into such a school ( I mean some good or average acting school).
5. Last one - being in such a school really helps in getting more auditions or not?

I wrote this post cuz I am still thinking about moving to USA. Im still in Poland but my plans are about coming summer.

Thanks for all replies.

Hi,

Nice to meet someone from close by - I'm from Lithuania (Litva), although I'm currently studying in UK. The next person who gives you an answer here will probably say to search through the forums there's plenty info there, and also read some articles/books on Acting business, etc. So that's probably what you should do, but I wonder how would you handle the most important thing which gets in the way of your plan - Visa? USA is no England, you can't just move in here and start living (well, atleast legally). Because that is what I'm struggling with now...

Yeah, you can LIVE, but you cannot WORK, that's what I'm talking about. You need to get a work visa, which would allow you to get into projects. Good luck and thanks for the heads-up.
