I live in New York. Does pilot season run from January-April? Is it true that auditions, agent submissions, pretty much everything is dead around the time? For someone to really get started(get paid work, meetings with agents) they should wait until AFTER pilot season?

Hey Broadway during Pilot season you'd be lucky if an agent have time to sneeze the way they are so busy during that time. lol !! Basically they are busier than ever mainly trying to get their star clients out there to be seen, and go up for these new shows. But if you get Tony Martinez- "An agent tells all " he has a whole section devoted to pilot season, and more. Which will clearly answer your concerns. Go to the drama book shop in the city and pick it up. Hope that helps !!

I think it also would probably be better for you in terms of your sanity to move after, because I have heard (as I'm sure you can imagine) it gets pretty slow for a little while after that, and what better to time to move there, get settled, learn the ropes and the lay of the land, get into a class, and network!

To me, the word wait only puts off what could possibly be your open door. For any actor who is passionate about being an actor and doing whatever it takes (morally speaking Wink) to move forward in this business, there is no time like the present. Don't put off submitting, marketing yourself, taking classes, creating projects, honing your skills, meeting new people, or whatever it is no matter what time of year it is. So many actors miss out on amazing opportunities because someone else got there before them while they were "waiting." Just keep moving forward. I know several actors who have had success during what others might call the "slow" season. What might be slow for some could be a blockbuster for others. Just keep at it regardless of what others say or what time of year it is. New projects are in development year-round.
