I recently was accepted to Mosser Casting. They sent me an e-mail saying I was on file but suggested that I upgrade my AgencyProTalent account, as this helps you to receive more bookings and such. I was considering upgrading my account but I wanted to find out from someone if this is in fact a scam or is it legit? what are the pros and cons? Also, if this isn't the best way to start an acting career, what is? I live in a small town in PA, so needless to say I am at a disadvantage when it comes to an acting career. I have no idea where to begin and what's legit and what's not. any help and advice is greatly appreciated!

Excellent question as many other casting agencies and talent agencies use agency pro. Most ppl I've spoken to have said its not necessary, but with so many agencies using it now, I wonder.

One of the background agencies that I signed up w/uses them (they usually get the better paying jobs), but I didn't have to buy it, especially since I already have an agent.

I'm still a baby to this craft and the business so take my opinion lightly. But, I'm currently reading a book called "Self Management for Actors" and it brings up agency pro and gives a view that doesn't sound unreasonable. Basically that programs like the one discussed are useless because casting directors and so forth are already so swamped with submissions they get on their desk as is let alone have time to search around online for an actor. Take it lightly but I would save your money on something more useful like a class or something.

I am beginning to think its a BIG WASTE of money because I have one for my daughter her page claims that she has over 200 submissions but no auditions from any of these submissions......I'm actually thinking of cancelling soon! Frowner

Listen up, everyone. I have no idea what you're talking about. We don't use this "service" and no agent I know uses this "service". I get very concerned when I hear that other agents - if you can call them that - are charging actors for stuff they don't really need.

Don't join AgencyPro! I have gotten emails so far just with a free membership, and have still been able to submit to things, and have gone on a couple of auditions. It just doesn't seem logical that any casting director is going to go onto that site and pick people off of it. I would stick with the free membership.

Hello everyone:

I just happened to be reading some of the posts here and came across this one. I would like to make one point of clarification: Our company protalentsoftware, the makers of protalentPERFORMER, is NOT the same company as AgencyPro.

The name of the company that you're referring to is called Agency Pro Software and their product is Agency Pro Talent.

Our company makes a product called protalentPERFORMER -- which is a completely different product altogether.

I know the name of our product and theirs sounds similar so I just wanted to make sure everyone here didn't think it was the same company.

thanks!

What exactly are you paying them for? Submissions? You can submit yourself for a lot of stuff through Actor's Access. If you're paying for them to submit you, that totally sounds like a scam.
And on another note, if you're REALLY serious about starting you acting career, save some money and move closer to New York. Otherwise, it's useless to pay for submissions if you can't even get to the audition.
