Hi Everyone!

Is it necessary to join NY Castings, Actors Access and subscribe to Backstage? I understand each has different features, but do they all receive the same breakdowns/audition notices?

Thanks in advance!

They handle different things!

The major film/tv casting director post mainly on Breakdownservices/Actorsaccess.com

NYCastings is better for commercials.

Backstage is for student films and local plays.

In New York, you need to be on NYCastingS.com and Actors Access.

In New York, Backstage lists an awful lot of plays and musicals.
At the moment we subscribe to all three that Truthtellers listed.

My wife keeps fowarding Talentjug listings to me that I am not at all convinced are as good as they seem.

Playbill.com and Actorsequity.org list the same theatre/musical theatre audtions as backstage. And both are free.

Unless you want to read the articles, I don't think a Backstage online membership is necessary.

Talentjug is a scam by the way and not a legitimate site.

Talent Jug is just like Explore Talent where they STEAL castings from Craigslist, Mandy, and Breakdown services. A lot of the castings are a week to a month old. They change the dates to look as if they're legit.

I do find that Backstage allows uploading photos, reels, embeding video and allowing links. It is much more user friendly for media than Actors Access (which is a PITA). NYCastings is ok in that respect.

Talent Jug tries to lure you in with promise to be in something you've already heard of, like the Twilight films or True Blood. Honestly, that sort of thing seems like a scam to me.
If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

I've been told by acting teachers that the best ones are actorsaccess.com, lacasting.com, and nowcasting.com

I really like actorsaccess for indie/student film, and I get some of that plus open theatre calls from backstage. I'm looking for more commerical stuff, though. Any suggestions?

Someone said nycasting.com, but is it the one WITH or WITHOUT the 's'?
(nycasting.com vs nycastingS.com???)

I get all my commercial auditions from actorsaccess

NYCastings.com is better than nycasting.com

I'm confused at how to sign yp for actorsacces. Do you have to call them in order to sign up? Also if anyone could tell me out of all these sites (actorsaccess etc) which ones are free and out of the ones that cost money which ones are worth paying for?

Just go to the website and you can create a free profile. You can sign up for $68 a yr with unlimited submissions, otherwise it's $2 a submission. If you are in LA it's a necessity; if you aren't then it's a waste. Same with LACasting. LAC is $5 per month($60/yr) but their photo prices are insane. In LA, nothing is really necessary except these 2.
