I am going to be starting my BFA in Acting at a very well known theater conservatory in the fall, but I also am planning on submitting to agents and casting directors soon so I can possibly work over my school breaks. I was wondering, should I mention my acceptance to the program (it's very prestigious) in my cover lettters/submissions, or would it hurt my chances if they knew I could not work throughout the whole year because of training? Any advice would be appreciated!

I'd say mention that you are accepted to the program, but don't mention that you will be unavailable in the cover letter. If you get a meeting with them, that is something you would have to discuss in person. I thouk it would hurt your chances of getting called in.

But how unavailable will you be? Because if you are not going to be able to audition for most of the year, why try to get an agent? And agent might be annoyed if you can't audition at all.

Be aware that you may have to clear any outside work with your academic advisor. SUNY Purchase and others may dismiss you from their program if they found out. FYI. And yes, mention what school you are attending.

I have to agree with Iceman. It sounds like you're jumping the gun. Why would an agent want to represent you if you're not really available? It's just going to lead to conflicts and bad feelings which will result in you being dropped as a client.

Agents sign actors because they expect to make money from them. That's how we keep our offices open and it's how we feed our families. So if you're not 100% available, focus on your studies and worry about representation later.

And congrats on the acceptance! That sounds very exciting.
