quote: Originally posted by SAGAFTRAAEA: Right to work is when non-union can do union work, but is moot as CA and NY dont have such laws.
In florida for example, you dont have to join a union to keep working in the union's jurisdiction. here in NY, those non-union can work in the union jurisdicion for a short amount of time, and then are barred from working more unless they join the union.
So its like they had a taste of what its like, but to have more, they gotta pay the piper.
Hayate_Rico13, SAGAFTRAAEA is not being a jerk. He (i assume SAGAFTRAAEA is a Guy) already told you that Right to work applies to Non-Union talents to work on SAG project... But you dont seem to get it. He's just worry that you might get yourself in trouble and got booted by the Union. In this case, You will have to decline the Non-Union Commercial offer, not unless the producer can work something out with SAG. When you booked/audition for the commercial, were you aware that it's a Non-Union only production? Did they know your union status?

My only guess is that he currently is non-union, but is deciding wether or not to join because he currently work alot in non-union commercials.... RULE 1 quote: “No member shall work as a performer or make an agreement to work as a performer for any producer who has not executed a basic minimum agreement with the Guild which is in full force and effect.” - from the SAG Constitution
In plain language, that means that a SAG member must always work under a union contract, and must NEVER work non-union.
