So I am in Comm. college now in Maryland-it's a very good school-they actually dropped the word 'community' from their name.
Anyway, I am set to take an acting class there-maybe 1 or 2 years worth but what I wnated to know is what is better, taking 1 year or 1 semester of a class there and then transferring to a university?
I am sure the teachers at this school are good, but I wonder how they teach.

As with any college or universtiy, it depends a lot on the training programs and also the individual teachers and how they teach. Try to talk to some former students of different colleges to help you get an idea of their training experience. If you don't know anyone, attend the different school's productions, read the director's/teacher's bios and hang out at the backstage door at the end of the show and ask some questions. Take things a semester at a time and see how it goes. I think you'll be able to tell if you are gaining what you need to be able to move forward in a positive and fulfilling direction.
Good luck!

Redhot, send me a PM if you want and tell me which school it is. I know a lot of the college teachers in that area and might be able to give you some insight.

I'm sorry to say this but in the long term, it will make absolutely no difference in your career. Industry types only take the league schools seriously. I'm talking about places like Yale and Julliard. And for that matter, an acting degree is NOT essential. You'd be better off getting a degree in something completely different that might help you in indirect ways - like marketing or business.
