Unless you've met them personally before and they said that they're cool with unsolicited mailing, you're wasting your time and money.

The majority of major casting directors in LA are NOT open to unsolicited mailings. Casting is now done almost entirely online, so they're busy looking online rather than through their mail. They also prefer working with agents.

The major CDs who have said they're open to unsolicited mailing said ONLY IF you have a DAMN good demoreel for them to watch during lunch.

Send your pix to whoever you please. The envelopes will (eventually) be opened, and someone will look at them. But unless you've got a great photo and credits, the mailing probably won't do you any good. In direct answer to your question, all the people who are doing casting for the same production are usually in the same office, and sending a separate pic to each of them is definitely a waste of money. Lastly, if you send anybody anything, make sure you've spelled all the words correctly.

Since this is posted in the new actors section, this may be jumping the gun a little?

If you really do want to do this- be sure your headshot at the very least ROCKS!!!! I don't mean your neighbor and mom and Aunty Em love it. I mean, get it critiqued by professionals FIRST before you waste the money on a cold mailing. It can net some opportunities, but again the shot must be GREAT.

But if we get on a treadmill together you are going to get off first or I'm going to die. It's really that simple. I'm not going to be outworked." -Will Smith
