Hi there, There is already a thread on the similar topic, check out a post by LovelyRita on July 3, there are some opinions on this. On a personal note, some people are shy, but they transform on stage and their shyness disappears. It helps to have a more outgoing personality for networking purposes. Anyway, I recommend a book by Peter Jazwinski titled "Act now, a guide to becoming a working actor". It's very informative for beginners and easy to read, and most importantly, provides a realistic advice. All the best!

I recommend getting into a class and learning a process. This will give you a set of tools to help get you out of your head and focus on the task at hand. If you're to shy to even go to a class you need to asking yourself "how bad do I want it"? Do you want to bad enough to get out of your comfort zone? It's doubtful anyone is going to discover you and nobody can do it for you. A good beginner class should be a safe place to learn and grow. Be brave, don't take yourself to serious and get started.
