We are heading to Ripley Grier and I am not familiar with where it is. We are taking Metro North and I am wondering where to go when we get off the train. Is it in walking distance from Grand Central? Or are there any other suggestions.

Ripley-Grier's midtown location (520 8th Ave, between 36th & 37th) is about a 20 minute walk from Grand Central. When you get off at Grand Central you will want to walk out towards any of the following streets- Park, Madison or Vanderbilt (which will be west of the train station.) You'll walk west to 8th Ave, which is about 5 very long blocks. Then you'll turn left and walk about 8 shorter blocks down to the Ripley-Grier location.
