I would like to say thank you in advance for anyone who answers this for me : ]
Well, my name is Kate. I am new on this board, and I have a few questions, as this is all uber confusing. haha.
I was told Craigslist was a good place to find open auditions... is that true? A lot of the stuff I see is student films, would I be able to put that on a resume?
I can't afford headshots right now (I am only 14 and my parents wont pay for any of this... they don't support me). So untill I get the money to get them, would ones taken by, say, my best friend who works taking pictures for yearbook work? he has a really good camera and all... and said he would do them for free! I know its not the best way to go, but it would be temporary, untill I get enough money to get them done right.
I do not have a lot of expirence, so what resume layout would be best for me right now?
and I know that I shouldn't get an agent yet, however I did look. there are two in my area that are SAG franchised (which I thought I should stick to)... has anyone ever heard of them? They are: Docherty INC. and The T.G. Agency.
Thanks again for taking the time to read that and answer : ] I just am really trying to be careful because I don't have money to lose, and, well, like I said am only 14. Thanks : ]
mabey I should rephrase... they dont care if I get into it, and support me in mostly all ways but money wise. I have a job, and they say if I want to do it, I can come up with the money myself. haha. sorry... : /
I have done it all without my parents help and you can too. Just do it- anyway you can (legally of course!) Start now and make it happen. Ignore anyone who tells you you can't and should wait.

I used to be with Docherty when I lived in that part of the world and I was very happy with them. I had friends with Talent Group. Both are legit.
But like others said, you're going to need your parents' support if you go that route - you'll need someone to drive you to auditions and bookings, and yes, at some point you'll need professional headshots.
And yes, you can put a student film on your resume, especially when you're starting out. But that's about all you're going to find on Craigslist, especially in Pittsburgh.
Kate - I don't know if you know who I am but I'm a Hollywood agent and I've been doing this for a long time. So here's some honest advice.
Stay away from Craig's List. Anyone can post anything they want there and you have no way of knowing if they're real or not. That's not the way for you to pursue your dream. There are also a lot of sleazy guys there who might be looking to take advantage of an attractive young girl like you.
Instead, see if your school has a drama club. If they don't, start one. Find other students like you who are interested in acting. If that doesn't work out, maybe your parents can help you find a weekend acting class in your area. That would be fun and you would meet other people that are into acting.
