It depends if you're in LA or up here. Color is down there. Up here, it's 50-50 (from what I noticed when I'm at auditions), unless you're a red head then you should use color.Border, I think depends on your taste, if you want one or not. If you live up here, just don't get them printed up here, they want 100-500% more than they ask compared to down there.

It's crucial to get COLOR shots, at least in the LA or NY markets. Black and white shots are never done any more, and submitting them makes your shots appear to be out-of-date ... or they give the impression that you don't care about your career (whether that's the case or not).

In general, a 6by9 photo is placed on an 8by10 page, with a white border all around, leaving space for your name at the bottom.

Good luck to you.

Best,

Ron

Border yes, but white. (no jagged edge, artistic borders on the photo itself)

I would go with color, as it's now the standard in the commercial industry.

Color is nicer anyway, did you know the reason actors went BW pics back then ?

because it was way cheaper than color shots.

color was actually prohibitively expensive back then...

now, technology can do both color and bw for the same price, and color conveys more about you than BW so why still do BW ?
