Hi. I'm a non-union actor from another contry. I get in trobles sometimes because of my status especially at background jobs. I don't think there is a problem with me but can't find any legal documents to prove my situation. If you're an O-1 holder, please give me some advice...

I have an O-1 Visa and can work legally as an actor in the U.S. My petitioner of the visa is my management company and the name is printed on my visa. My manager says I don't need to report him about my background work because I can only earn a little money. However background casting companies don't know about the O-1 visa well and don't know how to handle my case. Most of the time, they don't check documents (Visa or SS#card) carefully, so I'm fine. But occaicionally I am stopped. Once I was told "we cannot use you today." after waiting for the answer from their office for 6 hours at the holding.

Does anyone has any advice?

Thank you, GreginLA.

In fact, when they see all of what you listed, they are more confused and make my situation worse... My visa has manargement's name on it, SS card has a special note which American people don't have with it, my lisence says "Temp visitor".

Is there any foreign actor here???

did you ever figure this out? I too have an O1 visa and am going to do my first BG work tomorrow with it. On the call in they reminded people to bring 2 forms of ID. Can I bring my passport with a stamped O1 visa in it?

No, I have still no idea... I bring my passport, visa and also drivers lisence. Usually, no problem, 'cause AD does't know about this much or is too busy to pay attention to this.
Good luck!
