Ok, so I'm filling out my child performer permit and I realized the part of "Proffessional Name".

Now this brings me to "THE QUESTION"

Ok, so I started to search up any random actors and noticed all actors are known for their FIRST AND LAST NAME. (IF im wrong correct me).

So While I was searching up random actors on IMDB. I also noticed that on IMDB they have actors "Birth Name" Such as

Miley Ray Cyrus = Miley Cyrus
Hanna Dakota Fanning = Dakota Fanning
Thomas Cruise Mapother IV = Tom Cruise
Angelina Jolie Voight = Angelina Jolie
Robert Mario De Niro Jr= Robert Dinero
John Christopher Depp II = Johnny Depp
Megan Denise Fox = Megan Fox
Shia Saide LaBeouf = Shia Lebouf

So why is it all actors are only known by a first and last name?

Does that happen later on? Or is it that people write that on the "Prosfessional name"

or do they just leave the professional name blank and later their just called like that and imdb list their real name?

Its a stupid quesiton but i dont want to make a mistake while picking my professional name.

What i want to know is should i leave the "Professional name (if different from normal)" Section blank or should i put my first and last name?

Do you need to have a stage name? Unless your name sucks, sounds too Jewish, or is too generic/common it's not something to worry about.

I'm just asking if these people or any actor actually choose there first and last name as the pro name or do people just call them this because its shorter?

It's called marketability.

What sounds better?

Tom Cruise or Tom Mapother?

Marilyn Monroe or Norma Jean Mortensen?

Kirk Douglas or Issur Danielovitch Demsky?

From your list, Miley Cyrus, Shia LeBeouf, Robert De Niro, Johnny Depp, and Megan Fox did NOT need to change their names.

You beat me to my suggestion. Yes, I think Armani Del Rio sounds cool and unique in a good way. It's catchy and isn't already on IMDB.

Yes Armani Del Rio sounds better. Your full name is too long sounding. There's a rhythm to Armani Del Rio.

If you are filling out a child performer permit, you're obviously a minor.

Most kids use 'stage names' for different reasons than just sounding better. Most of the time, it's to put a layer of anonymity between the kid and the crazyies. Use the find button to get more info.

PARF had a discussion on this pretty recently. If it's not on the main page, ask someone to bump it.

Your PARENTS should be the ones learning and understanding this info. If you keep your given surname, their lives may be effected by your decisions.

I disagree. I believe teens should do the work for themselves if they want to do it. Guidance and advice, yes.JMHO. I find it more rewarding ti know that I worked for it.
