I think she is asking if it is legal to use the name of a character from a published/released work, as your stage name. I think you can use the name, but you can't use the character. If the character bears too much resemblance to it's namesake, you would definatly be looking at legal problems.
The rational could be that the character was named after a known character from a book or movie by his parents… I think I’ve seen this in a movie.
The creator of the original character might not like you using his character’s name, but I don't know legally if he could do anything. Any lawyers on the board?
