Hello everyone. I've only taken a couple of acting classes here in Las Vegas and love it. My current employer is being bought out and I'm just waiting for the sale to be complete so I can get my severance package on move on to something else. Since I love acting I figured this was the perfect opportunity to move out to LA after getting my severance package and doing that until it runs out. What part of the season would be a good time for me to work seasonal work in my current occupation and take the rest of the year off to give acting a serious try? My current occupation hire's a ton of contractors for the summer run. I would basically work it during the summer and hopefully have enough to work at acting the rest of the year. Would I miss out to much by taking the summer off? Thanks in advance.

I guess none, by the lack of responses. Ok let me put it this way. I have a family to support so I must absolutly work part of the year. I am in a field though that allows me to only work for 3 or 4 months a year and take the rest off. What 3 or 4 months is the slowest for casting?

That's really a hard one, since casting seems to be an ongoing process, even after pilot season, and it depends on what type of casting you are more interested in, film, TV or theatre. And to pick 3 to 4 months is almost impossible. But, from past experience, the slowest times have seemed to be late June to early July and then the last 2 weeks of December to first 2 weeks of January, picking up after Sundance has ended. But the industry can be so unpredictable and with the strikes and all, it's really hard to lock in the slowest time, except for the end of the year.

Sorry this probably didn't really answer your question, it's just what our family has experienced over the years.

Thanks Mominbiz. That explains why there are no other comments for so long. Even though it's not a good idea to take 3 or 4 months off a year it's what I have to do for now. Thank you again for your answer.
