My dog jumps on the couch the second I leave or my roomate leaves( even if I am hidden in my room). The second she realizes that someone is nearby she jumps off and runs and acts like nothing is wrong. She knows she is being bad when she is on the couch. I have useda repellent that she seems to ignore.
Any advice?

His name is Cesar Milan and his show is the number one rated program on the National Geographic Channel, check him out. I really like his approach -- teaching you to be a better "pack leader." When a dog develops a behavioral issue there's usually more than just a single one, and understanding your pet's "pack mentality" can help you solve just about any problem. Although he's not the only dog trainer in the business, he's certainly the most visible and popular one lately. One of my recent headshot clients was actually featured on the show and he claims the guy worked wonders with his two unruly Great Danes. Also try Googling him, he apparently has a bunch of instructional books and CD's that might help you remedy your pooch's problem. I give him a Four Bark rating
They sell this pad that goes on the couch and sounds an alarm when there is pressure on it. We used this for my big dog and it worked great - even after it broke, as long as it was on the couch he stayed off. Once their trained like that you no longer need it. Check out the Drs Foster and Smith (I think) website.
