Hi All,

I'll be visiting NYC in late August and would love to catch an off- or off-off-Broadway show.

I heard the CULTURE PROJECT has been turning out great work. Anyone seen their stuff?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks! Big Grin

depending on when you're coming, you might still be able to catch some Fringe shows. They run until August 24th. If you're not familiar with fringe, it's a festival of something like 200 new works in August, playing at various off-Broadway venues. The shows are only $15 and play thoughout the day and on weekends. A number of big names shows (like Urinetown!) have gotten their start at Fringe.

and to shamelessly self promote...
mine's called "I Love You, Petty, and Favre" and its gonna be a good time =)

DOn't know if it's still there, but if it is, I would definitely go see "I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change!" It was HILARIOUS and so well put together.

Thanks to both of you! The Fringe might be a great option since I'm trying to budget a little bit.

Cheers! Smiler

A friend is in "Cafe Playa Moon" and it's a really good play...78th Street Theatre Lab august 22,23,24. Tickets are $16 and $10 for students. It's a 'comedy with a serious theme'

Just went to see "Forbidden Broadway" at the 47th St. Theatre and it was sooo funny. The actors and piano player were all terrific. If you have seen lots of broadway shows, then this would be perfect for you to see....it's basically a mockery of several current shows and past shows/performers and worth every dime...only $29/$39 and I took my 9 year old son (some bad language and suttle references, but nothing he couldn't handle). Oh, and I heard there is a $7 improv where they ask audience members for some info and then improv a musical (near Madison Sq Garden). If you google improv musical, you may find it. I hear it's a great night out, and it starts at 10pm. Supposed to be fun....have a great time!
