I miss my home. My Australia, the place by the beach I lived at, the first and only place I ever found happiness. I adore it, cherish it, yearn for, cry for it and cannot stand not being at my beloved Queensland. But I want to act- it is my passion. The thing is though, how much longer can I endure being so desperately unhappy and how will I ever know what will truly be the right choice? Do I chuck in my feelings and continue my journey in my career? Or is their the chance that I could live without it if I could just get back to my piece of paradise? I don't know what to do and am at a big crossroads in my life that will really dictate my future. I know it's about sacrifice. I know this. But I don't want to sacrifice what makes me happy- to get happy- only to likely end up even more unhappy if that makes any sense.

I won't have this house and this car and so on if I move back. I probably won't be in film and tv either. But just how much of ourselves, our souls and our very beings anf happiness are we willing to put on the backburner for this quest? Where is there a point when you just can't take growing even more miserable day after day? Or maybe it's me, and it's not where I am that makes the difference. Maybe here or there I am destined to be despondent. I just know that gradually, each and every day, I am growing more and more empty and lonely. I miss my friends, I miss my old life, I miss feeling free and I miss being less guarded. I am sorry but I feel like on this board are some of the only people that actually get me- if only to a very small extent. I had to get this out.

I hate feeling this way and I long to be my old self from 2000.

What do I do? Thanks for reading.

That's a tough situation.

Did you consider maybe taking a vacation to Queensland? I've seen pictures and it IS beautiful and to live in somewhere unfamiliar or even when you know you once lived what seems to be another life is difficult.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I was there in 2007 but for a funeral so it wasn't exactly a great trip. It was beautiful though and made it hard to get back on that plane. It is SOOOOO laid back. I want to visit more and I think that is key but it just takes time and money, you know?

That's a really bad situation to be in...

Maybe weigh the pros/cons, and see what means more to you and what is more important. Then see what are the likely predictions if you stay or if you left to Queensland (I search it up and it's beautiful!).

At the end of day if you really are not happy, then you have to fix that because life is too short to be unhappy with it. Do you think you could ever be happy where you live right now? If you do leave then do you think you miss your old life that you are living today?

I can't pretend I am speaking from experience about missing home though.

Great question. I think that nails it there.
I thought I could start a theatre company. I won't give up acting no matter what- ever. It makes me ME. But it may have to take a different course.

Hey miss stone,

Now, I wanna start off that I have some idea what you're going through, but at the same time no idea. However, I'm gonna have to say you should stay. Now, I know you have friends back in Queensland, and I think they'd be happy on the one hand that you came home, but then a few days later telling you to get your ass back to LA.

We've talked before about working really hard, and f*ck parties, stay home and work on your acting, and I totally went with that. But Anton Chekhov said it best "If you want to work on your art, work on your life."

You are SO focused, you are SO disciplined, but maybe you can take the time to just hang out with people. Have a Sex-in-the-City type group of friends. I know you're probably throwing up a little on the inside from that comment, but seriously. Find a support group. Find some other people who are going through what you are going through. Find the less superficial people in the huge mothership of superficiality that is LA.

I know putting yourself out there may be the last thing you want to do, but I think this could definitely help you miss stone.

If this doesn't help, I'll swallow my foot, and never talk again, but I think this should help.

Yes, it is not easy. And what a beautiful picture!

I believe Prospective has some points- you ARE one of the few really disciplined, talented, hard-working actors in LA. You CAN do it! You CAN make money doing this- something you genuinely love!

It's hard. It's very hard. If you move back to Queensland, will you wonder what would happen if you stayed in LA? What could have happened?

My point is: you CAN do it (be successful in LA), but do you WANT to?

Miss Stone, out of curiosity because I really don't know, but aren't there some pretty decent production companies in Australia/New Zealand? I thought that was how actors like Mel Gibson and Russel Crow got started. Could you do some quality work while living in Queensland?

By the way, that is a lovely picture. Australia is at the top of my list of places to visit outside of the States.

Maybe you could try an extended vacation and see how it goes. Good luck, and try to keep you chin up.

Miss stone, I feel your longing for home.

People make many sacrifices for their craft, but what good is it if you're miserable and homesick?

My instincts say, "Come home, ET." If you miss the grind, you can always grab the first Quantas flight back to the States. And if you ever need a load of crap, we'll be right here, as close as your keyboard.

That little theater company idea sounds fantastic to me. Your fellow Aussies could use someone with the hard won experience that you have. And just think, if I ever get back to 'rooville, I'll have a free place to stay!

Whatever you do, always follow your heart. Nothing else matters.

After a HARD fight and some success, I still ran out of money out there and landed a job making some really good cash here in Nevada. This is where I lived before I was in LA. SO I am working hard to save up my $$$$$$ to continue my journey. The economy forced many people out of LA. I planned on coming back in a few months after I had regrouped mentally and financially. It is going well too, I might add and I have not lost sight of my goals. I just don't like it here as people in this state are so lost and I miss auditioning and the beach etc. I am married too, remember and my plans must work with his to a point.

I agree, Robert. Wholeheartedly. I do think I need to see this through, though and my hubby agrees. We came here with a plan- and we will feel we have failed if we give up now.

Southern California or bust.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Just venting, eh miss stone?

I had no idea that you lived in the desert. Get the hell out of there.

California has beaches, too.

Not quite just venting- I am truly homesick.

I hate the fakeness of LA. But at least they are happy and going places.

The people here whine and bitch and mope and live in a state of desperation. They cling to the money they are making, are miserable at their jobs but haven't the balls to try anything else. No matter how much they make, it is never enough and they refuse to work hard and expect everything to be just handed to them. One girl was complaining the other night because she only made $500. I am trying hard to escape this pit of hell believe me!!

The bottom line is the place back home I remember from nearly ten years ago would not be the same anymore anyway. So I might as welll tough it out. In California asap.

That's enough about the economy.

I know how homesick you must feel. Who hasn't felt that same pain?

Actually, that comment was nothing to do with the economy. That is people HERE in Nevada in the casino business in general. It's never enough was my point. They are ALWAYS like that. Greedy and unhappy.

And that is true.

That was my idea of humor, ms.

One of my dearest friends lives in Lost Wages. As soon as he can raise the cash, he's outta there.

It's the real life Sodom and Gomorrah, there's no future there. It'll kill your spirit.

Okay Miss Stone realize there is a time and season for everything under the sun. Don't run away from the unknown instead embrace who you are becoming. What do you want or rather what are you willing to work for? Answer that and you'll know exactly where you are supposed to be!

Chin up!

Every truly great accomplishment is at first impossible.
