-Tonight we are focusing on holding on to God's Word, the Bible, and different ways that we hold on to God's Word's, the Bible. I will be talking about how we need to MEDITATE on God's Word.
-I encourage you all to read PSALM 119. PSALM 119 may have been written by Ezra the priest and it is a repetitive MEDITATION on the beauty of God's Word and how it helps us stay pure and grow in faith.
-I've already asked the Holy Ghost to speak through me and use me tonight. I'm asking the Holy Spirit again to please speak through me and use me tonight.
-As I speak, these words hit me first because I certainly need to MEDITATE on the Word of God as we all need to MEDITATE on the Word of God.
-The word MEDITATE means to think deeply and continuously. MEDITATION is quiet, deep contemplation.
-The version of the Bible that I read is the New Living Translation Version of the Bible and my quotes come from that translation or version of the Bible. *I must say that it is important to read a translation or version of the Bible that you can understand. The KJV of the Bible can be difficult to read, study, recite, understand and MEDITATE on because we don't speak like the KJV of the Bible is written. How can we hold on to God's Word if we do not understand God's Word? So I strongly suggest and recommend getting a version or translation of the Bible that is translated into contemporary English, how we talk today. Getting a contemporary English version of God's Word can open up God's Word to you in a new way! I believe that a lot of people don't read the KJV of the Bible because it can be difficult to read and comprehend. Therefore, people loose interest in it and don't read it. I believe that people will read the Bible if they can read and understand what they are reading.
-With that being said, the Bible says in, PSALMS 1: 1-3, (New Living Translation of the Bible), "Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants; day and night they think about his law. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper."
-The "law" means all of Scripture: the first five books of Moses, the Prophets, and the other writings. The more that we understand God's Word, the more resources we will have to guide us in our daily decisions.
-You can learn how to follow God by thinking about His Word. This means spending time reading the Bible and thinking about what you have read. It means asking yourself how you should change so you're living as God wants. Knowing and thinking about God's Word are the first steps toward applying it to your everyday life. If you want to follow God more closely, you must know what He says.
-Having a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is the most important relationship that we can have. It is very important that we develop and strengthen our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ so that we will be able to endure the troubles, storms, trials, tribulations and pains that life sometimes throws our way. It is very important that we develop and strengthen our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ so that our faith in Him grows, strengthens and develops.
-Going to church and listening to preachers is important and needed. However, our own personal relationship with the LORD really grows, strengthens, develops when we spend ONE-on-ONE time with the LORD everyday at home, on the job, at school, and on our free time.
-How do we get to know someone and develop our relationship with them if we don't spend time with them? Whether it is a significant other or a friend, long distance relationships tend not to work and long distance relationships dissolve because there is a lack of communication and closeness. People in long distance relationships can loose touch with each other and because of that their relationship falls apart. Friends can drift apart and lovers can fall out of love with each other because there is a lack of communication and closeness.
-The LORD communicated to us through His Word, the Bible. Our relationship with the LORD grows, strengthens and develops by MEDITATING on His Word, the Bible. We need to think deeply and continuously about what the LORD said to us in His Word, the Bible, if we really want to deeply know the LORD and have a strong, unwavering relationship with the LORD.
-We need to MEDITATE, think deeply and continuously about what the LORD said to us in His Word, the Bible; if we want to grasp, hold on to, remember, take in and be saturated by the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit's leading and the Holy Spirit's Word, the Bible.
-All of us have studied for tests in school. However, we've forgotten and lost a lot of the information that we studied because we don't think about or MEDITATE on the information that we studied to keep that information fresh in our hearts, minds and souls. We didn't grasp, hold on to, remember, and take in a lot of the information that we studied in school because after the tests, we didn't continue to deeply think about or MEDITATE on what we studied. -If we don't deeply think about or MEDITATE on the guidance, Scriptures, teachings, and lessons that are in God's Word, the Bible, then we are not going to be able to grasp God's Word. If we don't continue to MEDITATE on God's Word, we are not going to be able to hold on to God's Word. If we don't continue to MEDITATE on God's Word, we are not going to be able to remember God's Word. If we don't MEDITATE on God's Word, we are not going to be able to take in and be saturated by God's Word.
-MEDITATING on God's Word, the Bible, is key to knowing the LORD. MEDITATING on God's Word enables us to grasp God's Word and who God is. MEDITATING on God's Word enables us to hold on to God's Word and hold on to God. MEDITATING on God's Word enables us to remember God's Word and remember God in our everyday daily lives. MEDITATING on God's Word enables us to take in God's Word into our hearts, minds and souls. MEDITATING on God's Word enables us to be saturated by the Holy Spirit and the guidance, teachings, and lessons that are in God's Word.
-The Lord Jesus Christ said in, MATTHEW 5: 17-19, (New Living Translation Version of the Bible), "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to fulfill them. I assure you, until heaven and earth disappear, even the smallest detail of God's law will remain until its purpose is achieved. So if you break the smallest commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God's laws and teaches them will be great in the Kingdom of Heaven."
-Some of those in the crowd that Jesus was talking to were experts at telling others what to do, but they missed the central point of God's laws themselves. Jesus made it clear, however, that obeying God's laws is more important than explaining them. It's much easier to study God's laws and tell others to obey them than to put them into practice. How are you doing at obeying God yourself?
-Jesus said in, JOHN 14: 26, (New Living Translation Version of the Bible), "But when the Father sends the Counselor as my representative - and by Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit - he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you."
-I pray that the Holy Spirit helps us to MEDITATE on God's Word, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that the Holy Spirit, helps us to focus as we MEDITATE on God's Word, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-The Bible says in, JAMES 2: 14-17, (New Living Translation), "Dear brothers and sisters, what's the use of saying you have faith if you don't prove it by your actions? That kind of faith can't save anyone. Suppose you see a brother or sister who needs food or clothing, and you say, 'Well, good-bye and God bless you; stay warm and eat well' - but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, it isn't enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn't show itself by good deeds is no faith at all - it is dead and useless."
-We can not earn our salvation by serving and obeying God. But actions show that our commitment to God is real. Deeds of loving service are not a substitute for, but rather a verification of, our faith in Christ.
-Faith without works is dead. You have to work to be saturated by God's Word and His Holy Spirit. God is not going to make you do anything and God is not going to do everything for you. There are some things that you have to do. You may be waiting on God but God is waiting on you. You can not be lazy if you want to be saturated by the Holy Spirit and God's Word. You need to and must make yourself MEDITATE on God's Word.
In the Lord Jesus Christ,

Will I burn in Hell for suggesting that this site isn't the proper place for prosletizing any particular religion or religious belief?
I was born a Christian, my mother is "born again" and my grandmother was a famous Christian missionary. That said, I don't think this forum was designed to witness for the Lord, or anyone else. For others who don't believe as you do, it can present a problem. I don't care if you're a Christian, a Satanist, a Jew, a Muslim or a Scientologist. You should respect the diversity of all who use this board by keeping your faith strictly a personal matter.
I appreciate your obvious sincerity -- this just isn't the appropriate outlet for it.

Well... as much as I think this board is not the most appropiate forum for religious descussion, at least it's in the "Off-Topic" catigory. And you don't get much more off topic then the above lenghty sermon.

People can talk about most things and nobody has a problem with it. People post trivial, unimportant things on here and no one has a problem with that. However, once someone talks about God and religion then people have issues with that and say that talking about God and religion is not "appropriate."
Well, this particular forum is for discussing anything that's on my mind and what I posted is what was on my mind. It was totally right, good and appropriate to post the message that I talked about.
I encourage anyone else to post discussions about Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Atheism or any other point of view. People shouldn't be afraid of discussing these topics.
If you don't want to read what I wrote and you have a problem with what I wrote then don't read it. Don't try to tell someone what they can or can't post. Don't try to tell someone they should or should not post.
JBActors (Jason), I don't believe that God thinks of human beings as being money or property. God thinks about us in the same way that a parent thinks about their child. A parent doesn't think of their children as being property or money. Most parents love their children unconditional as God loves us.

Thanks for answering. So I guess there would no justification for owning slaves, considering them money, and beating them to death if you feel like it, right?
I'm seriously asking, because a Christian author said this was ok.
This is what the author wrote. This isn't exact words, but almost...
I'll get the exact quotes later. But tell me what you think of these ideas, are they from God? Because that is what this author says...
He says you can own slaves, beat them to death as long as the slave takes a few days to die. And he says that slaves should be considered money. Then he goes on to say that Jews should be slaves. And that if you buy a Jew slave, then the you get the children of the Jew slave included. And he says it's ok for fathers to sell their daughters into slavery.
He also says that a person's testicles should be checked, and that if their testicles are damaged, or their penis is cut off, they are not allowed in church.
He says this comes from God. Do you think God could have had ANYTHING to do with passages like this, ever?

That dog just doesn’t hunt.
In my first post, I said: “I appreciate your obvious sincerity -- this just isn't the appropriate outlet for it.” It appears that subtlety doesn’t work well on this site. But that’s the nature of the free press -- you get the roses with the thorns.
When you go to your favorite pastor on Sunday morning snuka, you do it voluntarily and of your own free will. Anything said in church, right or wrong, you chose to be there. But this isn’t a chapel, a shrine for a Black Mass, an Islamic mosque, a Jewish temple, or a Church of Scientology -- it’s an acting website. You see it as a wonderful opportunity to make converts. It isn’t, anymore than a Jehovah’s Witness banging on your front door on a Sunday morning telling you that their religion is, “totally right, good and appropriate…” That is the inherent weakness in all Christian doctrine. By making your’s the only religion on earth with the “RIGHT” way to exercise your faith , by extension, you make everyone else’s beliefs, “WRONG.” This was the exact message given by ex-president Jimmy Carter in 2006, himself a Baptist minister with a degree in theology.
As I had rightfully feared, it appears that the essence of my original message was completely missed. I believe in the Bill of Rights. It was wisely built-in to the Constitution to protect everyone’s rights, up to and including the freedom not to be force-fed another’s religious dogma. There’s also a concept called “the separation of church and state.” In your religious zeal, you’ve stepped over that line, and like it or not, you’ll be called on it.
You claim that you were simply “discussing religious topics.” Once again snuka, I was born in a hardcore Christian household, so please don’t play me – you weren't holding a two-way discussion on comparative religion, you were PREACHING, straight up. If you don’t know the difference, you have no business being in a pulpit.
I don’t have a problem with Jesus -- it’s just some of his followers I disagree with.

I couldn't agree with you more Robert!!! I have no problem with any religion. In my family, we have all sorts of beliefs, from Judiaism, Mormonism, catholicism, to traditional native american beliefs. I just don't see this site as a place to "sell" your religion. Thats one thing thats always bothered me a little about the christian faith. Why must people go around trying to "sell" their ideals to everyone else? Now, I guess I can't say that its JUST christians, but the vast majority IS. I think faith, and belief is something beautiful, but I think organized religion is a breeding ground for heathens to take advantage of the true believers. Bottom line, Don't let anyone tell you how to live, how to think, or how to walk the path of life, because its always going to be up to you, and you only. I have many many many more things to say about religion, but like Robert said, this ain't the place!

People take scriptures out of context all of the time and use the Bible to justify anything. Back during the times that the Bible records, there were slaves/servants in that culture. I have not read anywhere in the Bible where it it okay to beat slaves or do anything to slaves that you said that this author wrote.
JBActors (Jason), you need to read the Bible for yourself and see what it says and not take anyone's word for what the Bible says. People twist and manipulate the meaning of the Bible all of the time to manipulate people and back up their own twisted way of thinking.

Robert Kim Photography and avidactor:
The Lord Jesus Christ should not just be talked about in church or in Bible-study, the LORD should be talked about everywhere. If you truly understood Jesus and what He said, you'd understand that.
I don't "sell" religion. It's not mine to sell. I do talk about how I've been blessed and I share that with others. People have been blessed by the messages that I've put on here. You need to ask yourself, why are you trying to block their blessing? Why are you trying to discourage me from putting a positive, encouraging message on here that is going to bless somebody?
A Christian that understands the LORD and the LORD's Word, should and would support me and not try to negatively influence me and discourage me from doing what the LORD put into my heart to do. To God be the glory!!!

Dear Snuka,

In the Lord Jesus Christ,
snuka
Im somehow going to relate this topic to acting.
In acting, there are techniques that work for some, and there are techniques that work for others. There are those who loathe Meisner, and everything he represents. There are some who consider Jan Kott a literary genius. There are those who, dare I say, think Stanislavski was a nutjob. Some, adore Stella Adler, and Anne Bogart, and Michael Chekhov. We, as human beings, are among the most creative and innovative creatures on the planet. We learn through observation, intuition, tradition. We assimilate, we ostrasize, we manipulate, we accept, and we surrender. EVERY ONE OF US. For there to be ONE way for us all to live, would be to defy the very nature of what God, Allah, Jesus, The Great Spirit, Jahova, Zeus, Hannah Montana, etc. had in mind for us all. We have the ability to think for ourselves. This is what makes our craft great. This is what makes our ambitions even greater, but it is also what makes our beliefs stand true. For you to say: "-Having a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is the most important relationship that we can have. It is very important that we develop and strengthen our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ so that we will be able to endure the troubles, storms, trials, tribulations and pains that life sometimes throws our way. It is very important that we develop and strengthen our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ so that our faith in Him grows, strengthens and develops."
This is telling me that Only JESUS can "save" me. Save me from what? I do not believe that Jesus is the LORD. I cannot rightfully say who, or what the LORD is. I feel there is a great spirit. My tribe calls this unsoma "Moneto". This is only what my belief is, and I keep this belief to myself, within my heart....and, I really enjoy using Stanislavski as well as Michael Chekhov as a base for all character analysis!

JBActors (Jason), You asked, "Do you think God could have had ANYTHING to do with passages like this, ever?"
I replied, "I have not read anywhere in the Bible where it it okay to beat slaves or do anything to slaves that you said that this author wrote."
Does that not answer your question? Also, you can find the answers for yourself by reading the Bible for yourself. Don't depend on me or anyone else to give you answers that you can find for yourself.

avidactor, I'm open to hearing about what you believe. I'm not afraid to hear about what you believe. I will not and can not say that you shouldn't share your beliefs. I could read what you share about your beliefs or not read it.
Why are you not open to hearing about what others believe? Why are you afraid to hear about what others believe?

Why are you not open to hearing about what others believe? Why are you afraid to hear about what others believe?
Because you come here to an actors forum & preach it at least two times a month telling us the "Word" i mean, if it was one or two open topics about religion that would one one thing, It's a very sensitive topic, & there are so many christen chat rooms to talk about it, but you are doing it here to "Spread the word" Big difference.
