I think that's a sad part about society, they should have those games, but they need to promote games that make a girl want to be her own woman rather than just a doll.
When I was a young girl (when I played video games like around 10-14) my games always focus on a warrior. I played slasher/horror/sci fi/fantasy fighting games, and the bad part about it most of the characters were guys. Its okay to play a guy, but it does get a little tiring. My favorite games is when you have an option to play a girl, or the girl is the main character.
I had some weird games, like Silent Hill, Devil May Cry, Project Eden, Fable, Dark Angel: Vampire Apocalypse. The more darker and scarier the better. I like it when they had a mixture of religion in the mix too.
Here were some of my games... but girls have an option of playing games like that and ones that make them more of a person.
