My picks?

Marcia Gay Hardin and Brit character actor, Gary Oldham.

Marcia Gay never ceases to move me, and she only gets better. Gary... well, like Daniel Day Lewis, I think he's in a class by himself.

I had the pleasure of working with Roy Scheider, who passed away this month. We were shooting live dolphins for a short-lived TV
series in Florida. Not only was he a terrific guy, but another fine actor who never seemed to get the kudos he so richly deserved.

How could I forget Jeffrey Wright??!!!

This guy's so underutilized in this business, it's a crime. Check out his dual-role undertaking in "Angels In America" (with Al Pacino) or his tiny supporing role in "Lackawanna Blues," that little-known HBO gem. He's so powerful that many of his performances defy easy explanation. This guy deserves far better than he's got. If he ever lands a "breakout role" (say, like the one Philip Seymour Hoffman got in "Capote"), there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that he'll take home the Oscar. Remember you heard it here first, folks! Great call, D.

I certainly agree with Bridges, Harris and Gay Harden. I'd add Ellen Burstyn. Sally Fields and Calista Flockhart are two I think people take a bit for granted. Dennis Quaid - aside from being a rocking singer and a sweet guy - is a wonderful actor.

Ellen Page is flavor-of-the-month right now, but I wonder how many people realize she's done a range of things already and came to the part as a pro, not just a wry teen who "happened to fit" the role? How many people caught the moment - and a moment is all it is - in "Juno" when her character's father, hearing she's pregnant, says, off-handedly, "I expected more from you, Junebug", and the deep hurt which flashes across the otherwise tough teen's face?

That's acting.

Has everyone caught Spacey's celebrity impersonations on You Tube? If not, here's the link. Enjoy!

GREAT CHOICE STEPHON, especially the actress who play SNOOPES, her scene which airs tomorrow night is fantastic (I dont wanna give away too much-I saw it on demand).

Its the most UNDERRATED show of all time besides HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREETS. Although this season felt rushed and predictable (except for Omar's death-that took me by surprised), nothing beats Season 3. Ten times better than THE SOPRANOS which is way OVERRATED.

My prediction for the last episode: Mcnulty and all the cops involved in the fake serial killer stories, goes to jail along with Marlo and the dealers. Mike, sadly, becomes the NEW "Stringer Bell-Marlo" in the hood and repeats the drug game cycle in the community.

Alex O'Loughlin
He's Australian, relatively new to the US audiance, not really big in Australia either, but more than here.

Admitedly he is getting noticed now but, not many remeber anything he did before his role on The Shield, not too many remeber that.

From the interviews and the roles I've seen him in, he's a down to earth actor who'd very versatile. He's played a prisoner sent from the UK to Austrailia in the first prison colonies, a shieriff, Oyster Farmer (also the title of the film) A detective, a musician (not bad on guitar btw) a vampire and Marshall in an upcoming film. Did a bit of UK TV too but I haven't seen or read any of the storylines for that.

I love his ability to do accents, he does America, inclusing a great southern Mississippi accent and a native Californian and a mean brogue, not so easy for an Austrailian to come across as anything but.

Thanks for supporting baltimore television shows! I've worked a lot with the cast on the wire and they are all amazing people to be around. Homicide was an amazing show too! Its a shame they're both gone!
Other great actors to think about:
Giovanni Ribisi
Tim Roth (one of the best out there!)
Alan Cumming (another incredible!)
Brian Cox
Michael Pitt
Lucas Haas

Tim Roth... OH, YEAH. How can you beat a Brit??

I asked an Australian actor from Perth I shot last month why there are so many incredible Aussies showing up from Down Under. His answer? "We travel to England to get our training..." Kind of an interesting follow-up to my last post on acting technique. Great training + great talent= superior actors.

"Whatever works."
