Just wanted to give all of you passport holders a HEADS UP!
Be sure to check your expiration date and how many blank pages you have left in your passports. It's a good idea to renew them 6 months before they are due to expire and add pages if needed. There are some countries and airlines that will not accept a US passport that is going to expire within 6 months and/or have enough blank pages to stamp.
http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/get/renew/renew_833.html -Taken directly from this site... -Some countries require that your passport be valid at least six months beyond the dates of your trip and/or have two to four blank visa/stamp pages. Some airlines will not allow you to board if these requirements are not met.
Happy traveling!

MIB is right (as usual) Dean you would hate to lose a job because you didn't have a passport! Soon you'll need a passport even to get into Canada!
The 6 month thing is only for a few countries (maybe 6 or less). I believe Costa Rica is one of them (which I always think is strange). Some countries require a VISA (China for one) but that doesn't take very long to get (less than one week) but you can't geta VISA without a passport so GET YOUR PASSPORT and KEEP IT CURRENT!

Just heard it on the news today... as of January 23, 2007, air traverlers to and from Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean will need a passport in order to cross the US border.
New Year's Resolution for all actors and at least one parent or guardian of a child actor who does not yet have one... GET YOUR PASSPORT!!!
Trust me, you'll be glad you did!

it's not so much about GOING to Canada - it's a US Government thing - it's about GETTING BACK to the US! It'll affect ALOT of cross-border travel unfortunately. Oh well...I've always travelled on a passport but still...good to have the reminder!

If your friend is traveling by land, he/she's still okay without a passport until January 2008. But, it really is a pain getting back in across the border even by land without one. Here is the site with the dates. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html
I posted this reminder after hearing it on the news, since actors don't always have much notice if they book a job outside the US and the transportation for those jobs are usually tavel by air. It will still take approximately 6 weeks to receive the passport after submitting the application.
It's also a good reminder so as not to wait till the last minute and spend the additional $60.00 fee plus overnight delivery costs for the Expedited Service.

They actually will not allow you to fly out if you do not have the valid passport to get back in. So it's still about both ways (for flying). My passport is long expired!! Gotta get my lazy but down to that post office!! hahaha
It's taking longer than it used to (used to be 6 weeks) to get your passport, so get on it now to avoid additional fees and/or possibly losing out on a job.

I saw the post and panicked because I haven't checked mine in years. Fortunately, they are good for ten years and I still have just less than eight years left on it.
One of these days I might actually use it.
