Has anyone heard of Player's Directory...It's attached to Nowcasting.com, which my d has a free profile. Do hundreds of CDs really look at it daily????

The Player's Directory used to be a must-have for an actor - when everything was in print. Then on-line databases came along. Now Casting now runs it, apparently, and is still trying to monetize it.

As to who looks at it, I don't know that anyone but someone in the company, or a few CD's, could actually tell you that.

Personally I regard it as a pointless investment these days.

They keep sending me e-mails, with samples. They still have Bea Arthur (RIP) listed. Never saw it before, thought I'd ask. Thanks. I'll pass. Just curious, what would you consider a good investment?

Oh gosh, that covers a range of possibilities, but certainly Actor's Access and LA Casting at a minimum.

Even when the Player's Directory was THE source, CD's would only look for people who fit specific roles at a specific moment. Now they have agents or the people themselves submitting directly through all these systems and they can do database searches themselves.

Now Casting was also advertising some kind of "On-line workshop" where you did a video that was supposedly viewed by large numbers of said professionals. Forgive me if I'm.... skeptical.

Otherwise, check this thread: AA on PD

Thanks Jim. We do AA, my d has got some auditions/booked some stuff off of it, so it pays for itself. Don't do LA casting, we're east coast. Find BS to be good, as well. Just curious, is all.
