I'm new to the message boards but have been a very frequent reader for quiet some time, the boards are a wonderful tool and powerful resource for actors I must say =) I thought now should be the time I create an account and post my first message-- I recently receieved an email from "Wild Models & Talent" requesting I contact them for a "closed audition". I copied the email from my inbox, please see below-- everything about the email screamed suspect and scam to me. I did a bit of research on the internet and message boards and came up with nothing using the name "Wild Models". They also do not appear to be listed anywhere as a franchised agency either. I am not a model so I wondered how they obtained my email address. I had recently completed a round of drop off's and mailings, so I thought at best, giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe their commerical print department found me on LA Casting, but I doubt it. In any case, putting my google skills to use, I found the following and wanted to share just in case anyone else received the same email. I believe the company used to be called "Model Management Inc" and required none other than the infamous up front fees and the like. It appears, according to the complaints board website, that they use the Century Park East address as rental space and have changed their name. I have not called to confirm an audition and do not intend to-- just wanted to spread the word so that no one else puts any valuable time or effort into this.

If it is Model Management Inc., stay away. If it is not, it might be worth your time to see them, knowing that if they ask for money upfront or want you to have new headshots by their photographer, or any other unethical request you can run away fast!!

I got the same notification. I never go to these things unless I get someone to recommend
the casting agency.

ok, i recieved the same email and everything. I called to let them know that i was coming in and i went. as soon as i got there, i talked to some girl and she looked at my pictures and then gave me a sheet of paper with a number on it telling me to call back to see if they were going to represent me. i called and she said yes they like my look and told me to come in to meet with the new agent. i met with her and she was so pushy in telling me that i needed to shoot with their photographer which will cost me 895.00 which will include stylist, make up artist, comp cards, and i forgot what else. if anyone knows anything about them, please please let me know. Thank you.

LActing- no I didn't go to the audition/interview, I did however call the number just for kicks and there was a recording that mentioned it was their "audition hotline" lol, and in so many words, leave your info after the beep...I called the other phone number listed to see if I'd get a live answer and of course- no. But no, I did not go.

Hexx- all the information I have on them is from the google research I did on them, but my instint tells me that they are a scam and from reading your post it sounds like they are indeed. The pushy feelings you picked up on and the fact that they were insisting on "their" photographer at that price are red flags in my book- I think your instincts are telling you the same. Trust your instincts.

If the email didn't address you by name, it's not worth your time. And the name of the company's sleazy.

Not to mention:

If they were a scam they would not be a licensed talent agency. Check the State for real talent agencies.

We have had complaints on these boards (and elsewhere) about more than one agency which is licensed, even SAG-franchised.

At least three licensed, SAG-franchised agencies have run off with actors' money since I've been in LA.

It just ain't that simple. Sorry.

It is my understanding that two
licensed and union franchised
agencies in NYC closed without properly remitting actors' money.
J Michael Bloom [perhaps due to lack of oversight on escrow account] and another agency this year.
These were actually WELL LIKED agencies.
