Does anyone else have the problem of randomly being able to edit your posts or not?

Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. Is there a limit to how many times you can edit something?

How do I gain permission to always be able to edit my posts?

I'd like to remove a link I posted, but am unable to; even though I edited the post a few times before, I can't currently.

Thanks for any info.

no, there's no limit to how many times, but you can only edit until 30 minutes after you post the item. you need to contact a moderator and have them edit.

Ah... good to know. I'll have to talk to one of the moderators then.

But if any of them are reading this, may I suggest changing the setup to no time limit on edits?

For example, if a link were to go dead after a few days, I wouldn't be able to change it in a post. Sure, I could put a new post further down, but that makes it a little more difficult for easy access to whatever you may be trying to share.

Regardless, thanks for the info americangirl! Smiler

I suspect the operative philosophy is that you have time to correct any sloppy errors, but not to go back days later and make your post (which may now have been challenged) say something different than it did.

I've seen people erase their whole side in a debate when it began to make them look bad.

But that's just a guess. My telepathic bond with the moderators is a little undependable.

Life has no rewind, say what you feel and mean what you say. lol however this doesn't resolve your issue. It's just my vote to keep it at 30 minutes. =)

I believe Jim is correct. It wouldn't work if people could remove or change points that others have already responded to...

You can send a PM to Tomster if you want to discuss it in more detail. Michael and I don't control the technical world on here.
