What's funny as hell, is the fact that it's an LA based company but they outsource their callers.

After making a free profile:
(In an East Indian accent) "Hello, this is Peter/Mary. I saw your profile and think you have great pictures and would like you to post more. I have a lot of castings that fit your profile and would like you to activate your profile so you can go to these auditions..."

I would say they are very similar to BackStage.com. Before I registered with Explore Talent, I contacted the acting (OC John Casablaca Modeling & Acting Center)school my daughter attends to verify if they're a legit company. Their website address is www.ocjcstudis.com

You've been scammed! Not once, but TWICE! John Casblanca Modeling and Acting Center is a SCAM! If someone says that you need to take a class for modeling, RUN! Legitimate Modeling agencies pay for your runway coaches, etc. You should NEVER have to pay yourself.

Asking a well known scammer about a scam is like asking poop if vomit stinks.

Just an update on Explore-- a film student of mine posted a casting notice on the listserve of the film and drama departments at our university. The next day she found, via a google search I believe, her notice on Explore talent. Many of the facts were wrong. She had yet to post the notice on actorsaccess or backstage or anywhere professional--so was stumped at how it turned up on explore. I am too!

I find real value in using Explore Talent. I really don't know why you folks keep saying it's a scam. I haven't done anything but sign up, became a paying member and now I submit for auditions all the time. They never bother me and they don't try to get more money. They sent me the business cards as promised and I have total access to the site. I don't know why I joined this forum? It seems alot of you people just like to hang around bashing other talent sites. Don't you have anything better to do? Not one of you has said how you were scammed. Are you just trying to build up Backstage??? Backstage is already a nice site and I see no reason to make people who enjoy using Explore Talent feel like idiots. You really don't know what you are talking about. As for some of the links I've seen posted about rip off report of bbb, just think about it, Explore Talent has over 2 million members. To have had 100 complaints over the last 3 years doesn't seem bad at all. Anyway, just thought I would share that I really enjoy using Explore Talent. I'm glad I found Backstage too. Just don't like all the negativity.

So have you actually gotten calls after submitting? I just hope that the auditions locations aren't at some remote warehouse or a mansion in San Fernando Valley for you sake. I used the service when I had a free trial and all I saw were postings that I could find on Craigslist and other places where I can submit for free. $30/month for that kind of stuff? You only have to pay $10/month for legit sites like LACasting and NowCasting that actually have quality stuff. BAM! There's one reason it's a scam!

2 million users? How do you know that? Explore Talent can easily make that claim! I bet it was 2 million people who signed up for free and Explore Talent is counting them as members. It was probably 100 people who actually paid for the services.

Why the hell would you want business cards with Exploretalent on it? It has such a bad name in the industry, that it's just going to hurt you more than help you. Of all of the top Film/TV/Commercial Casting Directors I've spoken to (All big budget/National), they've all said that Exploretalent is crap and would never post a casting on there.

Hey Silent partner if you know first hand that explore talent is legit than that's all that should matter to you. Not what we think. Just do you man. You have your opinion and so do we. If I was you and I was recieving castings and auditions from Explore talent like you say you are then why care whatothers think. Unless your "Mr. Explore Talent" himself . Like Matt stated "your right we're wrong". Let it go man !! Your beating a dead horse here. The jury has made up their minds already. Life's to short !Let it go !

For prestige.

Former NYS Governor Spitzer's date Kristen was on Explore Talent.

It shows that you can command high rates.

How much was she getting a dayte again?

Lol, yea, John Casblanca is a scam. I use to be with them back when I didn't know anything about acting (age 15). They told me to give them 2 grand and they'll fly me out to L.A. for a week of "training". Didn't get anything out of it but a few pictures at the end. Plus they gave us a lot of free time to enjoy the city.

So I thought of it more as a vacation for 2 grand that included hotel, air fare, and a photoshoot. Knowing what I know now, I coulda done that all for under 1 grand.

A few years later, explore talent somehow found me, and kept pestering me to join. I finally blocked them as spam.

I've seen lots of people drop a lot of money at JRP and get nothing as well.

You guys have some crazy opinions and somehow noone has any personal experiences. Well let me share mine. One of the main reasons I enjoy having a membership at Explore Talent is that they collect and offer more auditions than any other site. You can stay away if you want, but there is no debating my decision to join Explore Talent. I have found Explore Talent to be excellent. I know you guys are just looking out for us, but I can personally tell you that I haven't had a single problem. I have gotten work. And Explore Talent has done nothing to me. I submit every time I see an audition that interests me and again, I have read the articles mentioned here but my personal experience has been great. I give kudos to Explore Talent. Just look at the other testimonials:

Explore Talent Scams - The Facts

I am reposting this thread I posted a while back.

I always was a little suss on Explore Talent- they keep emailing me- grrrrr. but then I saw this job listing on Craigslist under customer service jobs and it really confirmed my suspicions. Take a look-see....

"TELE SALES NEEDED - High Pay Benefits!!!!!!!!

If you have good computer skills, excellent ability to close sales, and a professional phone voice, we have a very nice atmosphere where you can EXCEL

No cold calling
Warm leads only
HOURLY VS. 40% COMMISSION WITH UNLIMITED INCOME POTENTIAL!! HIRING IMMEDIATELY!
All sales calls are to current pre-registered members.

PAID training.

Outgoing, articulate, friendly personalities welcome.

Email resume to jobs@exploretalent.com
or call 818.849.3232"

So, what do you think, actors? Kinda makes you feel a little sick to the stomach, doesn't it? Hearing yourself and actors etc described as "warm leads". The worst part of it all? A lot of these flexible sales jobs pertaining to the industry are actually staffed by ACTORS. I have this to say. Any actor that tries to hustle another actor for his hard earned money should be shot on site and/or banished from LA permanently. BOYCOTT Explore Talent!!!!!

Here's my question. Do Casting people post breakdowns on Explore or does that service simply collect postings from other sources?

I'd bet money that it's the latter half of your question. I've met with many well known and legit casting directors, and I've NEVER heard "EXPLORE TALENT" with regards to where they post their castings. With regards to L.A. CDs it L.A. Casting, Actors Access, and/or Now Casting, etc.
