Where is a good, reasonable place to go here in LA to have ones reel edited. Suggestions, experiences, (both good and bad) referrals etc.

Thank you so much everyone in advance for your feedback.

2 of the 3 last times I re-did my reel, I went to Planet Video. (The last time I edited, one of my good friends who is a professional film editor did it for me as a gift.)

I liked Planet Video a lot. They were fast, knowledgeable, experienced, helpful and their rates were comparable to other places that do reels for working actors. (You can look up their website.) Do your research and make at least some basic plans and framework for what you want to get. Nearly all editors charge per hour. Don't waste your time and money by going in unprepared.

The only other suggestion I have is to make sure you choose your editor based on quality, not price. "Reasonable" is good to search for, but inexperienced "bargain rate" editors will be a gamble -- you could get something good, you might get something lousy.

One step

Paul's Video, on Cahuenga, next to Reproductions.

He is professional, quick and efficient

.........and he will make you stand

out, even further, in your scenes.

I second that.

How cool! I enjoy watching Dexter when I can; who knew I've already seen a Backstager! Smiler

Kudos Jim!

Also, one step, how much footage do you have? I really enjoy editing, and am debating about tyring to start editing reels for friends. I am looking for some practice - if you can't find any good deals elsewhere and can trust a random guy on an internet forum (please don't do that often), I wouldn't mind trying it out for free if you're not in too terrible of a rush.

Thank you very much, guys. I do need to update it. Paul, at PAUL'S VIDEO,

is really good at not only putting your reel together, but

also at editing within each scene. He will optimize

your screen time, and minimize your partner's

without losing anything in the scene.

He's also very quick and efficient.

Good luck in your search.

Jim

Jim, I keep coming back to the posts where you've included your reel. I love it. I went to Paul's website and saw he's been doing this for 25 years. I'm looking for some help on what to include and what not to...will he give you his input on that? I'll of course prepare what I think are my "best scenes" but will he say something like, "I wouldn't use that clip...it doesn't do you justice"? For example Smiler
