Hi,

I'd like to do an audition taping for those out of area auditions. Any tips on how to go about it? Any place in NY that can help with this?

Since I don't have reel yet, I think it might be a good option.

Thanks

I think to use this in place of a reel you'll have to do it on a case by case basis...anyone have experience with this? I've only done it a couple times.

I'm not an expert on this, but I've reviewed quite a few audition tapes. Jackie is right, it should be done case-by-case. I would recommend finding out everything you can about the project before submitting...make sure they'll accept a tape in the first place, and try to determine (as best you can) what they are looking for. Get the best quality you can, especially in terms of sound. Try to make sure the tape arrives there before the auditions take place, or you may end up being an ignored afterthought. Hopefully some other people who have done this often will post here...

Confused case by case? Does that mean, according to the project?

yes--case by case meaning do it specifically for each individual audition.

Audition tapes are created for a specific audition, usually reading sides from the project you are auditioning for.

I don't know of any books on how to do a good tape, but I would suggest that you keep it very simple. Don't have any edits in it, and make sure it's framed up so that your face can be seen (preferably head and shoulders).

Hope this helps.

Best,

Ron
