One of the endless offers I get...only $60.00 for 45 minutes. Wow!

EVER WANTED TO GET INTO VOICE-OVER WORK...

...but didn't know how? Now is your chance to meet two top industry casting directors from Kalmenson & Kalmenson, Jenn Welch and Barbara Du Bain (founding member of the Groundlings). With over 30 years of excellence in the field of talent development, the acknowledged industry leaders in the world of voice casting and education will be here to meet you and see you perform a script selected just for you. They will share their industry secrets to help you start a voice-over career. This is a very intense workshop with lots of information, a chance to do a preread for a top voice-over casting agency, and to get considered by this agency for other potential opportunities which might arise.

There is a seperate VO discussion group here, where this may be good to ask.

If you are not a union member, this may be the only way to go. OTHERWISE AFTRA & SAAG sometimes have seminars about doing VO's

Not really a 'scam'. This is an ad for a "pay to meet the casting directors" workshop. Since most places that charge actors to meet casting directors cost less than $60 for 45 minute "meeting" and "chance to do a preread", this one sounds pretty expensive. This workshop ad implies it's a chance for you to see if you'd be interested in voice-over work. Do you really want to pay $60 to see if you'd be interested?! If you're interested in this workshop, you're probably interested in doing voice-over work. Might as well take a real voice-over class. If you take a class directly from Kalmenson & Kalmenson (tops in VO) they charge $600 for a 6-week class. So that "introductory workshop" is only a little cheaper (per hour) than getting real VO classes from the CDs.

thanks for your input. Actually I have done over 600 or so VO's in the last 10 years. I just cant wrap my brain around the idea of paying someone to basically do a pretend audition. Thank you for the info on K&K though.Oh well just another Hollywood chance to spend more money
