E, are you talking about a CD with the initials B.G.? I can totally guess who the assistant is too. Just from what I've seen him write online, he is complete tool.

By the by are there any known good "workshops"? I've done a couple throught the SAG Conservatory and some were great some were 2 hour commercials for the teacher's services.

Well, I can confidently recommend my "Audition Psych. 101." It's a cheap, one-night workshop, and it's changing people's whole approach to auditioning. I won't be offering it again for a few months, but you can e-mail me at BackstageLetters@aol.com for more info.

Otherwise, here are some signs that may indicate a casting director workshop is more than just a job interview or a commercial:
--It's free.
--The teacher is highly experienced and seasoned.
--The ad for the class includes quotes from former students indicating they learned something valuable from the teacher.
--With casting director workshops, if they're ongoing (more than one night), they're more likely to be educational.

There are good teachers teaching at some of the worst workshop companies. And although many in the industry have embraced workshops, many still bristle at them. There isn't really a general "truth" here about where the industry as a whole stands on this. I suggest you do some reading on the topic before embracing or dismissing it yourself.

Many of the pay to be seen workshops are wastes of time and money. A few are good. I'd suggest beginning with an acting class that does intense scene work. Many actors use workshops in place of class which is....not going to really do the trick.
