I've been told a small tattoo is no big deal because it can be covered with make up. But what about if you have a big tattoo that wraps around one side of your rib area(half of your upper body)? For a girl especially is that career breaking?

I devoted an entire thread to the subject of tatoos in acting (Read: Tatoos and Headshots," on page three of the HEADSHOTS AND RESUMES section).

Unless you intend on doing total nudity, it would be simple enough just to cover up the tatoo'd area.

My advice? Don't get anymore tatoos.

“Whatever works.”

Some people are just pig-headed, Tattoos can be easily covered with makeup, it isnt a big deal for the makeup artist to do so if you are cast.

In short, tattoo or not, it dont matter.

I wouldn't say is a career braker but maybe a limitation. But then again, if they like you enough for the part, they might just cover it up. But I wouldn't get anymore tattos.

honestly, i think there is a potential of limiting you in the commercial market. its hard to say, there are so many roles out there. but, i have been asked by agents if i have tattoos.

If you ask me, no one thing is career breaking. Certainly not a tattoo.

Wow I was gonna ask this. I just got another tattoo. It's on my wrist but small. I don't intend on getting any large ones ever and I never get anything that can't be covered.

I don't think it's a career breaker as long as you can cover it up either with clothing or makeup.
