Do LA Agents, CDs, Directors, Producers love unique people? Like the more unique in looks the more of a demand?

Especially one who can play different nationalities from many Asian nationalites (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Filipino), Hispanic, American Indian and who can do many accents from American, English, Aussie, Kiwi, all Asians, Hispanic?

And of who can not only act but dance and sing and has been a trained working professional for sometime.

Do they like these sorts of things in a person alot?

Im asking as the countries I am from, it is backwards and not greatly appreciated

There is never really an answer to a question that groups all agents, casting directors, directors and producers into one group. Each person will have different preferences.

But generally, I believe they like finding the right actor for the role. If something unique is called for, they hope to find a unique actor. If the role calls for "a typical, dull, American teen-ager," they hope to find that person.

Funny. There's a scene in the movie "Precious" where the protagonist (who's black) asks Mariah Carey's character, "What color are you? Italian? Jewish?"

Honestly, I think for some actors it's a problem. Some say CD's have no imagination, but I think it's more accurate to say they're usually in a hurry. So they want people who "read" clearly, as opposed to having to stop and think about just where this person fits.

Having multiple talents is good, but only if you don't try and sell yourself as too many things (as opposed to selling yourself as one distinct brand with a few "add-ons".)

Think of Vin Diesel. I don't think anyone even knows today exactly what his heritage is. But he established himself as a kind of raw, sinewy tough guy, so people focused on that and only later worried about exactly what his ethnic "type" was.

So it's up to you to find something distinct, mono-dimensional about yourself that you can sell - your brand, basically - which will make CD's think of you as that ... "tough young gang girl"... "sweet social worker/nurse"... "competent business woman"... etc.

If you try to sell everything at once, you're doomed. And if you just float and hope someone else defines you, you might as well just play the lottery.

Take control. Decide who you are casting wise, and sell it.
