Okay, so I'm a student AND an actor, and that means limited resources. In other words - I'm broke. Since I am in the city for acting classes and college, do you think it is very tacky to go to CD and agents' offices to make drop-offs? In the Ross Reports some CDs and Agents mention "No Visits" - does that mean not even to drop off a headshot? Just trying to save a buck.

Messengers from agents walk into CD offices and drop off headshots/resumes all the time.
So pretend like you are one a messenger from an agent and no one will bother you.

Gee, with gas $2.50/gal and mailing a headshot 39 - 63 cents a shot, I would think you'd save more money by mailing em in, if that is what you're trying to achieve.

seeing as his name is PrinceofGOTHAM she probably used an educated guess
It's about getting your headshot to their office as quick as possible. Thus US mail is a very poor way to do it. It is to your advantage to get your headshot/resume into the CD office before the flood from US mail comes in.

hey thanks for the replies guys - I will most definitely consider making personal drop-offs. And yes, to clear the confusing, being the PrinceOfGotham would mean I am from New York City lol. But CSilvera is right, the one-month unlimited metrocards is a one-time expense, the more you use it, the more you get your money's worth - and again, being a student/actor, I would rather travel an extra 15 min. to save $2.50! 'tis the life we choose.
thanks again everyone : )

It really has nothing to do with saving money.
If you drop them off the day the breakdown is sent out, the CD is going to be more likely to look at it and call you in. Agents send submissions in the same day for this very reason.

Agreed. It makes MUCH more sense to drop them off, if possible.
If we were looking at it from a financial/economic standpoint, we could ask "How much is your time worth?" If it's only worth $10/hr, then it would make sense to spend 15 minutes to save $2.50. However, if you think your time is worth more than that, it would make sense to mail it.
Getting the CD or agent to look at the Headshot/resume on the day the breakdown comes out, though, is worth quite a bit more than $2.50 or however much you think your time is worth/you'd spend on postage.
=================== And now for something completely different.

Sorry, I took from the first poster that they were dropping off unsolicited headshots. But if they were talking about breakdowns you are correct. You want to be right in there with all the other talent who is represented by agencies.
