We attended TWO SAG related ones recently.

One was the big panel on Madison Ave near 30 Street.
The other was the South East Asian party and panel at SAG offices which had a panel of performers and one agent.

Of course we have already reserved for the big SAG 75th Anniversary party.

I think Sherly hit it spot on.

Ohh I love networking.
Either occasionally talking online to semi known actors or catching up with those I've worked with.

My latest has been the best-
I emailed an actress i worked with for a play last year and she sent my name out to all the local directors and within two weeks I had a couple calling me.
From that I got some volunteer positions helping as assistant director and helping at the box office.

The most IMPORTANT thing with networking is to always be nice to the people.
You never know if you'll see them again,or need them again!!

Coincidentally, I have an article coming out in Backstage on this very topic. This week, in fact, I believe. However, it's specific to LA. Hope some of you find it helpful.

You help, you volunteer, you become involved, you meet people and actually care. You get to know people so that passing on a name means something and can vouch for them. It's not just gladhanding at a party and passing out business cards.
It means giving time and talent for a cause or production that needs it. You will be rewarded. I do what any parent would to further my son's interests and it actually helps my own too. I can't tell you how many times I have helped with school, regional theatre and low budget films, etc. I've done everything in the business for the last 40 years except sales. I still enjoy lending a hand. During this time I have met a lot of people in all aspects of Radio/TV/Film. It's networking and tends to feed on itself.
Just get involved and have fun.
