I have a great new job cocktailing in a bikini at a resort but it is at the pool in 100+ degrees heat. I need to know what is the STRONGEST, most POWERFUL, most POTENT SUNSCREEN known to man and it can't be tested on animals. Suggestions? It has to be clear too. I need it mainly to do my face and chest area as I do NOT want to burn, dry out and age and I don't want Britney Spears type cleavage- as in FRECKLES. HELP!!!

I'm not sure about the animal testing...does Nuetrogena do that? But they have just recently released SPF 100+ cream with Heliopledx, UVB and UVA blockage. I never seen anything higher. Probably more potenet would be about SPF 85 but with "sports" written on it or "Waterproof" which means it won't be easily rubbed off...but then again, I"m not sure what kind of number it would do on the skin and how much blockage it can cause, no matter that it says "does not clog pores," since everyone reacts differently.
I've seen it in drug stores all over NYC...but can't seem to find it online at the moment.

As far as I know, it's much more effective to apply a mid-grade sunblock (like SPF 40-50 or so is more than enough) fairly often, rather than try to rely on a super-high-octane sunblock for your whole shift, however long that might be. Will you be able to get away for a couple minutes every hour or two to reapply? If so, then you should be okay.

Neutrogena animal tests but finally, after a LONG month looking, I found one by a company called Elta MD which is 50+, does NOT animal test and goes on clear etc. I use the Cosmetics Database to check safety of products too and it scored very well. A lot of sunscreens have oxybenzone in them which is deemed unsafe so I had a lot of bases to cover in my search.

That sounds very interesting and just another disappointing thing which shows us that we're being poisoned....antibiotics and hormones in meat, high fructose corn syrup almost in everything, sugar, fat, cholesterol. How are we to live normally? And now sunscreens aren't all safe either. I wonder if there is a website that just JUST purely safe products for every day living?

I bought some called Bullfrog with Titanium finally as I started out there on Tuesday and I was totally desperate. My skin is DELICATE!!!! I looked all over but couldn't verify whether it is tested on animals or not but it works amazingly and completely blocked out 100+ degrees sun.
I hope they don't test. I have already given up my toothpaste, my Lancome, many of my household products etc so my conscience is mostly clear in any case, you know? I get Melasma on my skin from the sun and I need to stay youthful for my career so I NEED this stuff like air. Seriously.

I, too, am a huge animal lover (and a vegan), animal activist, etc..
I recommend:
Sukinaturals.com (Suki, has GREAT cleanser) Ecobella.com (Eco Bella has great scented vanilla shampoo and conditioner) Veganstore.com (personal care products I don't want to say )
I recommend the book Gorgeously Green. It has lots of ecofriendly, animal friendly and skin friendly ideas.

More kudos! lol. I do that, too. I have a big heart for the Earth and I want to look good and feel good but know it's not gonna give me cancer when I'm 25! I also use this website to check the stats in my town about water, air, and the likes. Very interesting/scary. I am a firm believer that what we eat, breathe, drink and slather on our bodies affects our health.

I am going to give you guys a hint, as a really pale girl having to deal with several dermatologists over her life for her various skin problems...
Anything over 35 does not, I repeat, does NOT add any extra benefit. Kinn was right, it is WAY better to reapply a 40 sunblock over and over then rely on a stronger one. I carry a 45 for face and 35 for body in my purse at all times and reapply twice a day if I am using my umbrella to walk around.
...geez, I sound like Michael Jackson (may he rest in peace)...

Well I'm not on an expert on sunscreen since I don't use them often (I don't spend more than 5 minutes a day in the sun).
Here's some advice other than sunscreen
*** sesame and neem oil both are excellent sunscreens
* take a cool bath, add rose, sandalwood, or vetiver essence to the water. Afterward, pat the skin when it is still moist, massage all over with your body oil.
* to treat sunburned skin, rub on either crushed cucumber, cucumber juice, aloe vera juice, an ice infusion of elderflower and chamomile, or cold butter milk
- but also if you have olive oil on your skin during the sun your skin will collect more UV light, and provide a more even color. A daily dose of B-complex vitamins also helps produce an even tan. Coconut oils also is a tanning agent. So if you do use olive oil put it after the sunbathing because it will just collect more.
interesting article! I've always heard that adding sesame seeds to your dishes (stir fry, asian dishes) was very good for your skin, didn't think about sesame oil but it makes perfect sense.
Olive oil is also very moisturizing and keeps your skin from drying out.
