You've GOT to start a cardio exercise. Running, swimming, biking, whatever you can do. You honestly need a twenty minute a day cardio routine. Yes, it sucks for the first two weeks or so, but after some time, you start to love it. You will drop 20-30 lbs in a matter of a couple months. I lost 30lbs in four months, just by doing a 10 minute workout everyday. Granted, it was intense running, dancing, stage combat, but it made me lose the fat. Also, eat less fatty foods. Carbs are good IF you stay active. They burn fast, and you will burn carbs EVEN while you sleep...if you maintain your exercise. As far as quitting smoking, it depends on your personality type. If you can easily quit things, just try cold turkey. Chew gum. The need to smoke goes away after a few minutes. Another thing that might help is make a pact with yourself. Smoke only at night. Say, I wont have a cig until after six pm. Then it can be your reward. Keep making that time later and later, until you phase out. Stay away from bars, and drinking a lot (it helps with losing weight too!) because if you are out drinking, it makes it easy to want to smoke. As far as smoking at work, bring snacks to eat. Almonds, grapes, granola, something to keep your oral fix occupied. Try these things. If they don't work, then maybe you need to try over the counter methods like patches, or other things. Hope this helps and good luck! I know its hard, but just know, there's lots of us going through the same thing!
