Recently I've been having a hard time falling asleep. Sometimes I don't even sleep at all for the entire night! I'm sure it's stress, but it keeps happening and I'm not even feeling too stresed. Anyone know of any suggestions? Sometimes I feel like I'm going nuts when it happens : (

Hey pepperann. I have the same problem...once I'm asleep, I'm fine. It's just getting there that's difficult. I can't shut my mind off!

I've found that working out has helped a lot. Also, I've started doing some guided relaxation/meditation exercises. Both help to quiet the thoughts and get me to a point where I feel I can drift off.

If that doesn't work, you can try a natural supplement. I used to take it periodically and it really helped, but I found that it gave me really weird dreams. You can get some info about it here: Melatonin

Working out really does help. I suffered with insomnia for a long time but something else also helped. It may sound gross but I did a cleanse and since then I sleep fine. It used to take me over an hour just to fall asleep but now I'm almost out before my head hits the pillow and I stay asleep though the night instead of waking up at 3 o4 in the morning. Now the only time I have trouble falling asleep is the night before a shoot. But that is just nerves and excitement. Smiler

KimQuat, can I asked what you used or how you did your cleanse? And what your experience was going through it?

I've wanted to do it for a long time, but am not sure which is the best route to take. There are certain "considerations" that concern me...

Thanks!

I used Dr. Natura. It was not uncomfortable and didn't inconvenience me at all. It was a little gross but I'd rather see it come out of me than let it say inside me. (Sorry) I have to say it worked fabulously!!! I released so many toxins that my eye color even changed from a very dark brown to light brown.

I must warn you that the website is graphic but you really should try to look at it. http://drnatura.com/

One other thing, you might be able to get it at your local health food store a little cheaper that buying it directly from there website.

Thanks, KimQuat...especially for the -- ummm -- details. It was the gross factor and possible inconvenience I was worried about.

Did it happen to help you lose any weight?

Thanks to you both! I work out often so it must just be nerves. The cleanse sounds very interesting! I think that's what I need cause I also have stomach problems. Can someone tell me any dangers of doing this?

Hey GonnaMakeIt and pepperann. You are very welcome. I did actually lose weight and I am still loosing simply because now I am so much more informed and cautious about what I eat. It was a great jumpstart to getting healthier. pepperann, I am honestly not sure about any dangers. The cleanse I did is all natural and vegetarian so there are no additives or chemical or anything. But I would read up on it and ask your doctor if you have any questions. Everyone is different and you can never be too sure, especially if you are on medications. Please let me know if you all decide to do it, I am anxious to hear what you think and how you feel. Keep in touch.

Hey there,

My boyfriend also has problems sleeping, and he recently found something that helps him sleep. If you can't sleep, get out of bed, go to a different room if you can, and read something REALLY boring like a manual or phone book for 20 minutes in dim light. The idea is that you will wish you were back in bed asleep, because it's so boring. He says it's been helping him, so good luck!

Insomnia is the worst!

I've been pretty good lately, but I've had that problem in the past. I have yet to find any solution, except medication, which I hate using.

I hope it passes soon!

It's the worst! It seriously happens to me like once a week and it throws off my whole week. It happened last night: ( It makes me totally freak out and get upset. I'm sure it's all in my head now.

I've had various sleep problems throughout the years, like recently over the last 2 weeks I can't sleep more than 3-4 hours at a time anymore. One thing that I have found as a massage therapist though is that a number of people who have sleep problems carry an area of tension in their body and if you can find someone to locate it and work it out, it can help greatly.

Heh, I tried the stuff KimQuat recommended and it's incredible stuff for nearly everything. It's called "Colonix." it's got a pretty strong licorice taste from the root in it, but does it ever clean you out!!
I struggled with insomnia too, pepperann(I've got some very weird working hours) but I recently tried the stuff GonnaMakeIt recommended,
Melatonin, and it worked like magic!! I got mine at the Vitamin Shoppe (good prices). Take one cap 20 min. before you usually crash, and Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z...

Much of the time when I can't sleep, it's because I am still turning the day's events around in my mind, or am obsessing on the things that I have to do the next day. When this happens, I get out a pad and write. Write a list of the things you have to do and get them out of your mind -- this also gives a you a checklist that you can use to track your progress and you get each thing done.

For the day's events, try to focus on the one that is really bugging you can get down a diary entry on it.

Meditation also works, as has been mentioned. One of the things that has also worked for me is a sort of dream therapy. I work the problem around in my mind for a set time (five minutes or so) and then, as part of meditation ask for my dreams to work on the problem and present solutions while I slept.

Hope this is helpful.
